A Section of the Nawalapitiya Town around 500 meter area from Nawalapitiya Bus stop to area had got submerged this noon (13) due to the heavy showers prevailed in the area during last few days . As a result Transport activities of Nawalapitiya Town are being disrupted it has been revealed . Nawalpitiya town is being submerged regularly when showers occurred as the drains are clogged according to sources .
Wild Life Officers attached to Walikanda Wild Life Office have recovered a body of a Wild Elephant died due to electrocution near the Central Dispensary at the Aselapura ,Welikanda area this morning (13). Wild Life officers have launched a search operation to arrest the person or persons responsible for the death of Wild Elephant . The post mortem of the deceased Elephant is scheduled to be held this evening (13) by a Veterinary Surgeon it has been revealed.

Awissawella Police have arrested 25 youth including 21 males and 04 females belonging to a Facebook Social Media Group with 1315 Mili Grammes of Heroin ,525 Mili Grammes of Ice Narcotic and 10.210 Grammes of Cannabis in their possession at a Party organized by the Facebook Group in Thambiliyna Area,Awissawella last night (12). The group of youth arrested in the Party are residents of Colombo ,Dehiowita ,Kosgoda ,Embilipitiya ,Galle and Matara Districts . They are due to be produced before the Awissawella Magistrate Court today (13).
Three persons of a same family including two children have died and two persons of the family had been injured and hospitalized after a tree falling in to a temporary shanty house of them at Uva-Parnagama Road near the Welimada Padesheeya Sabah Building last night (12) following the heavy showers prevailed in the area. four persons of the family had been critically injured due to the incident and admitted to the Welimada Hospital where three out of them had succumbed to their injuries after admission. The deceased had been identified as two children of the ages 10 and 14 years and a female around 21 years .Residents of the area had rescued them from the debris and admitted to the hospital it has been revealed . Two of the injured are receiving treatment of the hospital .
