Supreme Court Has Dismissed A Petition Last Friday Seeking To Invalidate Presidential Election Gazette Notification
Supreme Court has last Friday
(04)dismissed the petition filed by former Galle Mayor of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Methsiri De Silva seeking to invalidate the Gazette notification issued by the Election Commissioner that the presidential election should be held on 16th of November.
The petition argues that the current president 's term is six years and holding the presidential Election before ending his term would be affected the soverignty of the people .
Petition has named president of National Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya and Commission members as respondents of the case .
However through the 19 th amendmemt to the constitution present government had reduced the term of Executive president to five years from six years .Current President Maithripala Sirisena has been elected to office in January 2015.

Priice Of Litro Gas Reduced By RS.240
Price of a 12.5 Kilo Gramme Litto Gas
Cylinder had been reduced by Rs.240 in Colombo District and Rs.251 in all other districts with effect from midnight last night accordance to the recommendations made by Cost of Living Committee .
According to the Ministry of Trade and Commerce the prices of 5 Kilo and 2.3 Kilo Gramme Litro Gas cylinders had been reduced by Rs.95 and Rs.30 respectively .
The price of a 12.5 Kilo Gramme Litro Gas Cylinder had been reduced to Rs.1493 from Rs.1733 ,Price of 5 Kilo Gramme Gas Cylinder had been reduced to Rs.598 from Rs.688 and 2.3 Kilo gramme cylinder reduced to Rs.289 from Ra.319 according to the new price reduction .

Three Female Estate Workers Had Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To An Explosion
Three female estate workers attached
to Wanaraja Estate in Hatton police division had been injured and hospitalized last evening (04)due to a sudden explosion occurred in the estate .
The injured female workers who had faced the incident whilst plucking tea leaves in the estate had been admitted to Dikoya Base Hospital for treatment .Two of the injured had undergone minor surgeries and their condition is not critical it has been revealed .
Hatton police conducting an investigations over the incident believes that the explosion might have caused due to exploding of a trap like Hakkapatas fixed to hunting animals by some estate workers after trampling it by the injured workers .
Due to the explosion other estate workers have moved away from tbe aarea .

Central Naval command had arrested five persons whilst transporting 1050 Kilo Grammes of Beedi leaves stacked in 30 parcels in two Dinghy Boats at Southern Thalaimannar sea area today (05).
