A Tense Situation Had Arisen Over The Death Of A Youth Suspect In Police Custody

A tense situation  had arisen in front of Mattakkuliya Police today (10)    due to a death of a 26 year old youth who was under detention of the  police over attempting to  rob a house  .The relatives and neighbors of the deceased had protested in front of the Police over the death of the youth saying he has died due to a police assault  it has been reported .

The deceased who had attempted to rob a three storied house at Kadiranawatta area in Mattakkuliya in wee hours of this morning had jumped  to the ground from the third floor as a female who had seen him screamed .Later residents of the area  had caught him and handed  over to Mattakkuliya Police for investigations .

However the suspect had died whilst in police custody this morning it has been revealed .The superintendent  of police (SP ) of  North Colombo police Division had began an investigation over the incident and a Magisterial Inquiry over the death had been conducted this evening at Matatakkuliya police amidst protests of the residents .

The deceased was a resident of Kadirana Road .




Around 10,000 Households In Kiribathgoda Experienced A Power Failure

Around 10,000 households at Kiribathgoda area are being experienced with a sudden power failure since this morning  (10)as a result of trees fallen on to the sub electricity lines belonging to sub power grid in Kiribathgoda area .

The restoration  of the electricity lines is currently  underway according to the Ministry of Power and Energy.

Meanwhile Houses in pitabaddara area too are being experienced with a similar power failure due to a tree falls on the electricity lines today as a result of strong winds .

Former President's Chief Of Staff Gamini Senerath And Two Others Acquitted


The Tribunal Judge panel of the Special Petmanant High Court had yesterday  (08)acquitted and  the Chief of staff of Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Gamini Sedara Senerath and two others from all charges including allegedly misappropriating Rs.500 million belonging to Litro Gas Lanka limited.

Delivering the verdict the The Tribunal Judge panel chaired by High Court Judge Sampath Abey Koontz had stated the complainants have not been  able to provide the charges without a doubt .
