Historical Esala Procession (Perahara) To Begin On 05th Of August

The world famous Historical Esala Procession (Perahara) is due to be held from 05th to 14th of August under the special security provided by around 7000 police personal according to the Organizers.

The planting of "a traditional "Kap " prior to the procession has been held in an auspicious time fell last morning (02) at four devala's Vishnu,Natha,Kataragama and Paththini with the presence of all Basnayaka Nilame's representing four devala's .

The Esala Procession which has been named as very attractive traditional event by the International Media will begin it's street procession on Monday night and the final round of the procession known as "Randoli" will be held on 14th of August .

The ever respected Tusker "Raja" is due to carry the sacred Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha in the procession .

Veteran Actress Sabeetha Perera Had Given Evidence Before The Police Unit Of Presidential Commission

Veteran Popular Actress Sabeetha Perera had given a statement for nearly two and half hours  before  the Police Unit of   Special Presidential Commission probing Fraud and Corruption of Sate Institutions  last Thursday (01) over the charges on  financial irregularities occurred when  handing over her Private Building at Battaramulla to the Ministry Of Agriculture on rental basis .

Earlier she had requested the Commission to give another date for her to  give an evidence and as a result the Commission had informed her to come on Monday .However the Veteran Actress who had signed the contract with Ministry Of Agriculture when handing over her building to the Ministry for a  monthly rental of Rs.21 Million ,had appeared before the Police unit of the Presidential Commission Last Thursday evening and gave evidence.

A Train Delay Is Experiencing At The Main Railway Line

A Train delay is being experienced  at the Main Railway Line at present  due to a Technical fault occurred  in a Train travelling from Polgahawela to Colombo Fort near the  Ambepussa Railway station between Alawwa and Polgahawela  it has  been announced.

The Railway authorities are currently working on  to return the situation  to  normalcy according to the Railway Control Room.

Police Have Arrested A 43 Year Old Person With A Stock Of "Goda'

Police officers attached to Western Provincial Crimes Division (North )have arrested a 43 year

old person with  15 Barrels containing 3037 Liters and 500 Mili Liters of "Goda" used to make illicit liquor during a raid carried out at Lagoon area in Mahabhage Police Division  yesterday (02). 

The suspect who is a resident of Ragama due to be  produced before the court.
