Southern Provincial Council Has Been Dissolved

Southern Provincial Council Has been
dissolved from midnight  last night(10) it has been announced.

The Provincial Council was dissolved as it's term ended this month.Southetn Provincial Governor Ranjit Keerthi Tennakoon has signed the gazette notification yesterday (10) to enable   the dissolving of the council.

Southern Provincial Council had held it's last session on Monday (08).

Cabinet Has Approved A Proposal.To Purchase Additional Electricity From Three Foreign Companies

Cabinet has approved a proposal to
purchase 100 Mega  Watt additional Electricity  from three companies in United Kingdom,Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates to the National  power grid for a six month period to ensure continuous power supply in the country.

This will be implemented as a temporary measure according to reports. 

Earlier it has been stated that the Minister of Power Ravi Karunanayake has submitted a proposal to the cabinet to purchase additional Electricity from the private sector for a five year period.

Meanwhile the four hour power cut implemented in many areas in the country since 25 th of March has been stopped from today(11)it has been announced by the Ministry of Power and Energy.

Funeral Of Veteran Musician Late H.M Jayawardana Was Held This Evening (10)

The funeral of Veteran Musician Late
H.M.Jayawardana who had passed away few days ago has been held at Borella Cemetry this evening (10) with the participation of Artists and family members .

Late H.M Jayawardana had composed Music to nearly 1000 classical songs including film songs .He was the husband of popular Sri Lankan Singer late visharada Malani Bulathsinghala and father of Singer Kasun Kalhara.
