Airport Customs Officers have today (06) arrested a 20 year old Sri Lankan who had attempted to smuggle 153 Cigarette cartons containing 30,600 foreign made Cigarette sticks to Sri Lanka Illegally at the arrival lounge in Katunayake ,Bandarnaike International Airport .

The suspect who is a resident of Ragama area arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai had attempted to smuggle the stock of Cigarette Sticks hidden inside of two cardboard boxes illegally to the country

The suspect was arrested when he attempted to leave from the Airport through the Green Channel according to reports.

The estimated value of the Illegal Cigarette sticks taken into custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.1.83 million it has been revealed.

STF Personal Have Arrested A Person With Heroin And Ice Narcotics In Possession

Special Police Task Force (STF) Personal have yesterday (05) arrested a Person with around 23 Grammes of "Heroin" and 4.4 Grammes of "Ice "narcotics in possession at Magazine Road in Borella yesterday (05) .

The suspect is a resident of Borella and due to be produced before court .The estimated value of the Heroin and Ice narcotics taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.60,000 according to Police.

A Sudden Fire Erupted In Bloemendhal Garbage Dump

Harbor Road in Colombo this evening (06) it has been reported.

Colombo Fire services Department had used two fire trucks to douse the fire .Authorities believes that the fire might have occurred as a result of the dry weather conditions prevailing in the area .
