A Body Of A Swedish Female Mysteriously Died Had Been Recovered From Unawatuna

A body of a Swedish female who
has died mysteriously had been found by the Habaraduwa police at a Hotel room of a Hotel she has stayed in Yaddehimulla ,Unawatuna yesterday (06) .

Police have recovered the body after the husband of the deceased has informed her death to the police it has been rrevealed.

The 53 year old deceased  who had arrived in Sri Lanka with her husband on 29 th of March has stayed in the Hotel at Unawatuna .

Police have found blood patches and broken bottles near her body and believes a brawl incident might have caused her death.

Habaraduwa Magistrate has began a Magesteal inquiry on the death.

Ceylon Electricity Board To Cut Engineers Salaries By 15 Percent

The management of the Ceylon
Electricity Board (CEB) has decided yesterday (05) to cut off the alaries of all  Engineers  attached to the Electricity Board from this Month(April)following a court order it has been announced .

Accordingly the Engineers of the CEB will receive only 85 percent of the salary they have received in  last March the sources have added.

Supreme Court has given a judgment few days ago stating the circular issued to grant a new salary increment   for the CEB Engineers in 2015 is illegal .

A Person Was Arrested With More Than 203 Grammes Of Heroin In Possession

Colombo Crimes Division officials have
arrested a 44 year old person with 203 Grammes and 234 Mili Grammes of Heroin in possession at Nagahamulla in Wellampitiya area yesterday (05).

The suspect who is a resident of Nagahamulla area is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court today (06).

The estimated value of the Haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.2 million .

Third Reading Of The Annual Budget Has Been Passed In Parliament

The third reading of the 2019 Annual
Budget had been passed yesterday (05)in Parliament  with a majority of 45 votes whilst 119 voted in favor and 74 voted against it .

Goveerning United National Party(UNP) MP's along with MP's of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and Tamil Nationsl Alliance (TNA )voted in favour of the Budget and MP's Opposition United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and leftist  Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna (JVP)had voted against it.

Few UPFA MP's were absent during the voting.

Bail Application Submitted By Drug Kingpin "Vele Sudha Had Dismissed By Appeals Court

The Court Of Appeal has today (05) dismissed the Bail Application submitted by Sri Lankan
Drug Kingpin  Gampola Vidanage Samantha Kumara allias "Vele Suda" "to the Court challenging the death sentence imposed on him by the Colombo High Court and confirmed his Death sentence .

Colombo High Court had sentenced Vele Suda to death in 2015  over keeping  7.05 Grammes of Heroin in possession at Mount Lavinia area in 2008.

In his appeal "Vele Suda " requested the Court Of Appeal to free him from all the charges leveled against him as the way the Death Sentence imposed over him by Colombo High Court is illegal .

The two member Judge Panel comprising of  Judges Achala Vengappuli  and Deepali Wijesundara had dismissed the petition and confirmed his Death Sentence.
