A Person Was Arrested With More Than 203 Grammes Of Heroin In Possession

Colombo Crimes Division officials have
arrested a 44 year old person with 203 Grammes and 234 Mili Grammes of Heroin in possession at Nagahamulla in Wellampitiya area yesterday (05).

The suspect who is a resident of Nagahamulla area is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court today (06).

The estimated value of the Haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.2 million .

Third Reading Of The Annual Budget Has Been Passed In Parliament

The third reading of the 2019 Annual
Budget had been passed yesterday (05)in Parliament  with a majority of 45 votes whilst 119 voted in favor and 74 voted against it .

Goveerning United National Party(UNP) MP's along with MP's of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and Tamil Nationsl Alliance (TNA )voted in favour of the Budget and MP's Opposition United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and leftist  Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna (JVP)had voted against it.

Few UPFA MP's were absent during the voting.

Bail Application Submitted By Drug Kingpin "Vele Sudha Had Dismissed By Appeals Court

The Court Of Appeal has today (05) dismissed the Bail Application submitted by Sri Lankan
Drug Kingpin  Gampola Vidanage Samantha Kumara allias "Vele Suda" "to the Court challenging the death sentence imposed on him by the Colombo High Court and confirmed his Death sentence .

Colombo High Court had sentenced Vele Suda to death in 2015  over keeping  7.05 Grammes of Heroin in possession at Mount Lavinia area in 2008.

In his appeal "Vele Suda " requested the Court Of Appeal to free him from all the charges leveled against him as the way the Death Sentence imposed over him by Colombo High Court is illegal .

The two member Judge Panel comprising of  Judges Achala Vengappuli  and Deepali Wijesundara had dismissed the petition and confirmed his Death Sentence.

Actor Van Rooyen Who Was Expelled From Dubai Had Been Remanded Until 11th Of April

Tele Drama Actor Ryan Van Rooyen who had been arrested by the Criminal Investigations
Department (CID) on his arrival at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo with four others after being expelled from Dubai ,Had been remanded until 11 th of April by the Matara Chief Magistrate Isuru Neththikumara today (05) over keeping and transporting of a haul of Cannabis .

The suspected Actor who had been arrested by Dubai Police in Dubai with 30 others including Sri Lankan Drug Kingpin Makandure Madush whilst attending a Party organized by Madush in a Hotel ,Had been jailed there and later expelled to Sri Lanka after being released from Jail .

Soon after  arrival at Katunayake Airport last morning (04) he was arrested by the CID Officers and questioned him around 18 hours along with Police Officers attached to the Police Anti Narcotic Bureau .

Later around 3 a.m this morning (05) the suspected Actor was released by the CID and handed over him to the Weligama Police over a Cannabis case .There he had found guilty over keeping a haul of Cannabis in possession for his use .Weligama Police had produced the Actor before the Matara Magistrate Neththikuamara and he was remanded as a result .

Meanwhile during the questioning  the Actor Van Rooyen has told the CID officers that he was introduced to Makandure Madush by the Singer Amal Perera who was also arrested with Madush In Dubai 

The other four suspects arrested with Ryan had been released after being questioned by CID .

A Large Area Of Land Had Been Destroyed Due To A Fire At A Reserve In Ella

More than 20 acres of land belonging to
a Pinus cultivation reserve at Kumbukwela in Ella area had been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in the reserve today (05)it has been reported.

The fire in the reserve is spreading rapidly due to the dry weather condition and strong winds prevailing in the area and as a result some valuable tree varieties in the reserve had destroyed already according to reports.

Even a water pump system restored in the area to get water had been completely destroyed due to the fire sources have stated.Police believes an individual or a group of persons might have lit the fire .
