Local Food Manufacturers Agreed To Support Traffic Light System Scheduled To Be Introduced For Solid Foods In April

local Food Manufacturers have today (01)pledged their support to the Health Minister Dr.Rajiths Senaratne over Implementing the scheduled Traffic Light System to indicate Higher Sugar,Fat, and Salt content of Solid/Half Solid and liquid Food with effect from 01st of April  .

This has been announced after a meeting held between Local Food Manufacturers and Health Minister at the Ministry Of Health this morning (01).

A Joint Press Briefing is scheduled to be held by Health Minister Dr.Senaratne and Local Food Manufacturers in March to make public aware on the new Traffic Light System .

The official ceremony to mark the introduction of Traffic Light System to Solid/Half Solid /Liquid food will be held on 02 nd of Aapril the Ministry Of Health Ha announced.

Issuing Gazette Notification On Increasing Daily Wages Of Estate Workers Has Been Temporarily Suspended


Issuing the  Gazette Notification regarding the increasing daily wages of Estate Workers to Rs.855 has been temporarily suspended by the Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe today (01) accordance to a request made by Tamil Progressive Alliance.

Accordingly the Gazette Notification will not issue until next Tuesday (05).

The decision has  been taken after a meeting held between Prime Minister Wikramasinghe and the Parliamentary Group of Tamil Progressive Alliance at Temple Trees today .

Ministers representing the Alliance Mano Ganeshan and Palani Digambaram are on the view that the daily wages of Estate Workers should be increased up to Rs.1000.

A Person Was Arrested With A Haul Of Kerala Cannabis

Police Officers attached to Mannar Dangerous Narcotic Unit have yesterday (31) arrested a
person with 14.69 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis in his possession at Thalaimannar Railway road it has been reported.

The arrest was made when the suspect had prepared   the haul of Kerala Cannabis to sell a Drug Smuggler Police have said.

The suspect is due to be produced before Mannar Magistrate Court.

A Large Stock Of Beedi Wrappers Had Been Taken In To Custody Whilst Transportation

Police Officers attached tp Mannar Police have yesterday (31) taken in to custody around 529 Kilo Grammes of Beedi Wrappers transporting illegally by a Lorry at Noor Street in Mannar(Northern [Province).

The suspects in the Lorry had left the Lorry at Jumma Mosque premises in Mannar and fled away from the area during the Police raid it has been revealed.Police have raided the Lorry accordance to information provided  by Navy Intelligence Officials .

Police believes the stock of Beedi Wrappers might be brought  to Sri Lanka from India via sea route.

Police are investigating in to arrest the persons who were responsible for the importation of Beedi wrappers.
