A Person Has Died ,One Hospitalized And Another One Missing After Drifting Away By Sea Waves

A 46 year old person has died, another person had been hospitalized and one went missing after
the strong sea waves have drifted  them away whilst trampling the sea waves at the Beach near the sea coastal area  of Chilaw Police Station last evening (26).

As all the three persons had been drifted away by sea waves ,fishermen  in the area have rescued two of them and one has died on admission to the Chilaw Base Hospital it has been reported.

The other person had drowned and  missing and the Navy divers along with Police officers had launched a search mission to find out the missing person.The Deceased was a resident at Elkaduwa area in Matale District .The missing person has been identified as the 17 year old son of the deceased.

Chilaw Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

A Youth Was Shocked And Hospitalized Due To A Van -Lorry -Three Wheeler Collision

A Youth had been shocked and admitted to Kotagala Government HospItal after hitting his head on a side of a Van as a result of The Van veering off the road and colliding with a Lorry parked  on the road today  (26) at Kotagala Town at Dimbula pathana area .

The Lorry than crashed in to a Three Wheeler nearby it had been revealed .The incident occurred as the female  driver of the van falling a sleep whilst driving the Van .

The Van carrying several Passengers was on the way Kataragama via Nuwara Eliya after visiting Sripadha at the time of the incident.

The shocked Youth had been admitted to hospital with symptoms of  Vomiting and headache. 

Authorities Requested Farmers To Avoid Growing "Maize "Until Yala Season



The head of the Special Unit on controlling "Sena" catapillars Deputy Agriculture Director Anura Jayathunge has today (26)requested the farmers not to cultivate "Maize"during next two months up  to Yala season in view of control the spreading of "Sena" further.

By avoiding growing "Maize" it will help to stop spreading "Sena " catapillar within Maize cultivation further he  has stressed.

Meanwhile Officials attached to Sri Lanka MahawelI Authority and Agriculture and Farmers Department had began a house to house campaign today (26)in several areas including Galkiragama and Sigiriya to make Awareness among farmers on controlling "Sena" .

At Galkiragama farmers had removed the "Maiz"  and burnt them as a precautionary meazure to control the catapillars it has been revealed .

Meanwhile Maradankadawala Police have recovered a stock of  " Maize destroyed by "Sena  " whilst transporting by a Lorry for Animal food yesterday  (25 ).

"Sena" catapillars as well as their parts had  found  in the stock of Maize taken in to custody it has been revealed .

An awareness programmes to educate traders ,consumers and Farmers on controlling the "Sena" catapillars are currently underway.
