IGP Has Ordered To Grant Promotions To 26 Chief Police Inspectors

Inspector General Of Police (IGP)Pujith
Jayasundara has today (18) ordered to promote 26 Chief Police Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent Of Police under the instructions of National Police Commission (NPC).

The promotions are being given accordance to an agreement reached with a group of Chief Police Inspectors who had filed a fundemental rights petition at Supreme Court by complaining  Their promotions  had  been halted.

Police Department has listed the names of another 12 Chief Police Inspectors for future promotions it has been revealed.



Two Youth Had Been Killed Due To Motorcycle -Truck Collision

Two youth had been killed after the
Motorcycle they were riding in colliding with a truck arrived in front side at Vetiya Road in Agunakola palassa this evening (18).

The deceased youth were of the ages 15 and 24 it has been revealed.

Police have arrested the Truck driver regarding the incident. 

Twenty Five New President Counsels Had Been Sworn In Before Supreme Court

Twenty Five new President Counsels recently appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena had
been sworn in before Chief Justice Nalin Perera and Supreme Court Judge Panel at the Supreme Court Complex today (18). 

Judges representing Court Of Appeal,High Courts and Magistrate Courts as well as a large number of Lawyers had   participated the swearing in ceremony held at the Hall of the Supreme Court Complex in Hulftsdorf ,Colombo..

Veteran Consultant Physician  Dr. Anula Wijesundara was inducted as the 122nd President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association(SLMA)  by outgoing SLMA President Dr.Ruvaiz Haniffa on 12th of January at a Ceremony held at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Independence Square ,Colombo-07.


An old girl of Vishha Collage ,Colombo .Dr.Wwijesundara was the consultant Physician attached to Sri Jayawardanapura Teaching Hospital ,Colombo and founder Professor of the Kotalawala Defense University ,Ratmalana .She was also the former president of Ceylon Collage Of Physicians in 2001.

A Motorcyclist Was Critically Injured Due To A Motorcycle -Three Wheeler Collision

A Motorcyclist had been critically
injured and hospitalized after the Motorcycle he was riding colliding with a rare side of a Three Wheeler at Balanthota area on Ginigathhena -Nawalapitiya main road this morning  (28)

The injured had been admitted to Nawalapitiya Base Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred when the Three Wheeler Driver travelling from Nawalapitiya to Ginigathhena had attempted to turn the vehicle in to a sub road. As a result the high speed Motorcycle arrived in rare side had collided with the Three Wheeler according to Police .

Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe Assumed His Duties As Opposition Leader

Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe has assumed his official  duties as the New Opposition Leader of the Parliament at
Opposition Leaders Office at Marcus Fernando Road ,Colombo -07 this morning  (18)after Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has recognised him as the opposition Leader.

However it has been reported that legally elected Opposition Leader, Tamil National Alliance  (TNA) Leader R.Sampanthan has not  handed over the Opposition Leader's office to new Opposition Leader up to now .

TNA Leader has also said in Parliament recently  that Speaker Jayasuriya never requested him to step down from Opposition Leader post.

After assuming his duties at office Amidst religious blessings ,Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapakshe has stressed after four years have has been appointed as the Opposition Leader of whole country and will be committed to solve everyone's problems .
