Prices Of Another 27 Essential Drugs To Be Reduced Within This Year -Health Minister Dr.Senatratne

Prices of 27 Essential Drugs will be reduced during this year for the benefit of patients
according to the Minister Of Health ,Nutrition and Indigenous  Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

Addressing the Health Ministry staff at the New Year festival held today (01) at the Health Ministry ,Minister has stated that he has managed to reduce the Prices of 73 Essential Drugs during last few years and hoping to increase  that number to 100 this year by  reducing the prices of another 27 varieties of  drugs .

The Soft Drink Sugar Tax that had reduced by the former President Mahinda Rajapakshe recently after he was appointed as the Minister of Finance illegally ,will be increased again Minister has stressed.Minister Dr.Senaratne  has instructed the Health Ministry Secretary Wasantha Perera to prepare a cabinet paper to propose the increasing of Sugar Tax again.

Prices of Private Health Institutes will be also regulated during this year Minister has further said.

Functioning Of One Hundred Eighty Two Projects Belonging To Health Ministry Halted During Last Two Months

Functioning of 182 Projects belonging
to Ministry of Health ,Nutrition and Indeginous Medicine had been halted during last two months due to the Constitutional coup which ousted legally appointed Cabinet and Prime Minister by the president according to the Ministry.

Accordingly 104 Development projects and 78 Foreign Investment Projects had been halted .

Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has requested an urgent report regarding the activities of these projects last week from the Health authorities after receiving complaints on this .  

Newly Appointed Cabinet To Meet Tomorrow (02)For The First Time After Gazetting Subjects Belonging To Ministries

The Newly appointed Cabinet of the
United National Front (UNF)Government is due to meet tomorrow (02)for the first time after Gazetting  the subjects belonging to Ministerial Portfolios.

Cabinet had met under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena on 20 th of December 2018 soon after sworn in ,However subjects of Ministerial Portfolios have not been gazetted at that time .That Cabinet meeting also lasted only twenty minutes .

Subjects belongs to Ministerial Portfolios had been gazetted recently .
