Nearly 45,000 Persons In North Displaced Due To Floods

Nearly 45,000 persons have been
displaced due to floods  in Northern Province as a  result of heavy showers prevailing in according to reports.

Majority of the displaced persons are residents of Jaffna,Vavuniya ,Mannar and Mulathivu in KilinochchI District.

The security forces along with Officials attached to Disaster Management Center have launched joint search operation to rescue those trapped die to floods in the areas .

Meanwhile President has advised the authorities to take urgent steps to provide relief to displaced persons .A special meeting is scheduled to be taken place between President Sirisena and Government officers including Government Agents of Mulathivu and KilinochchI tomorrow  (24)to discuss the relief aid provided to the displaced persons in North.

More Than 300 Families In KilinochchI Had Been Displaced Due To Floods

More than 300 families in KilinochchI
area had been displaced due to floods occurred In several villages including Raththinapuram ,Ananda puram, and Ponnagar it has been reported .

A-9 Road is also being submerged as a result of  a breaking of Mankulam Wewa (River )according to Disaster Management Center in KilinochchI.

The displaced had been moved to a welfare center in KilinochchI. Armed forces and officials have rescued the displaced by using life saving boats .








Several Low Land Areas Around Iranamadu Tank Had Been Submerged Due To Opening Of 14 Spill Gates

Several low land areas around
Iranamadu Tank  had been submerged as a result of the opening of 14 sluice gates belonging to the Tank due to  water level of the Tank had begun  to overflow  .

Water level of the Iranamadu Tank is overflowing as  a result of the heavy showers experienced in KilinochchI area since yesterday (21)according to Irrigation Department officials in KilinochchI.
