President Sirisena Has Sent A Letter To Prime Minister Wikramasinghe Informing His Removal -Prime Minister Replied Him.Back

President Maithripala Sirisena who had
appointed former President Mahinda Rajapakshe as New Prime Minister this evening (26)has sent a letter to Premier Ranil Wikramasinghe to inform he has been removed from Prime Minister post with immediatte affect it has been reported.

Addressing premier Wikramasinghe as honorable MP. ,President has said through the letter that under the powers vested with him according to the Constitution  had appointed him as the Prime Mimister under the section 42 (4)of the Constitution and now removed prime minister wikramasinghe from the post of prime minister .

In reply Prime Minister Wikramasinghe has sent a letter to President Sirisena saying that he was still the Prime Minister and President could not remove him .

Meanwhile government Printer has printed the Gazette notifications regarding the removal of Prime Minister Wikramasinghe and appointing of former President Rajapakshe as New premier it has been reported.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe Says He Has The Parliament Majority To Function In His Post

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe
has said  that he is still the Prime Minister of the country elected by people and got the majority of support in the Parliament to function  in his post .

Addressing the media at his official Residence Temple Trees prime Minister has said that he had won no confidence motion in Parliament recently by proving he has the support of the majoroty of MP's in Parliament.

Appointing former President Mahinda Rajapakshe as New Prime Minister is unethical and unconstitutional he had stressed.

Prime Minister Challanged the newly appointed premier Mahinda Rajapakshe to prove he has a majority of support in the Parliament to justify his appointment.

Speaking at the occassion United National Party MP Hirunika Premachandre has criticised the President SSirisena heavily by saying he has not only cheated her and UNP MP's also the people who voted him at the Presidential elections.

The UNP Minister's addressing the media at Temple Trees had stated that under the present Constitution president can appoint a Prime Minister if the post is vacant ,However he cannot remove a prime minister.

UPFA Supporters Gathered In Front Of Former President And Premier Mahinda Rajapakshe's House -Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe To Chair A Special Meeting Of UNP At Temple Trees

Whilest the  supporters of United
People's Freedom Alliance  (UPFA )have  gathered infront of the official residence of former President and Prime Minister who had sworn in before president today ,Mahinda Rajapakshe at Wijerama Road in Colombo -07 to greet him ,A meeting of the governing United National Party (UNP) is scheduled to be held shortly in Prime Minister's official residence "Temple Trees" under the patronage of Premier Ranil Wikramasinghe to discuss on the Constitutional crisis occurred as a result of appointing another prime ninister.

UNP MP's and Ministers are arriving in Temple Trees for the meeting and Premier Wikramasinghe too on the way Colombo for the meeting from Galle according to reports.

Soon after former President Mahinda Rajapakshe had sworn in before president as prime minister crackers were fired in different parts of the country it has been reported.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe Says That He Is Still The Prime Minister Under The Constitution

Under the 19 th Amendment Another Prime Minister cannot be sworn in and governing UNP  will fight against this unconstitutional act Prime minister Wikramasinghe has said. 

A Wild Elephant Had Been Killed Due To An Electrocution

A Wild Elephant had been killed after
colliding with an Unauthorised Power Line located at an Animal farm at Deegawapiya area in Ampara yesterday  (25)it has been reported.

Akkareipattu Police have arrested the Animal Farm owner regarding the death of Elephant.

An inquiry regarding the incident is being conducted jointly by the Akkareipattu Police and Wild Life officers in the area.
