Fourt Buddhist Monks Were Released On Bail After Being Surrendered To Court

Jayaratne has today (03)ordered to release four Buddhist Monks namely Bengamuwe Nalaka,IhathaKande Saddathissa, Madille Pgnaloka and Magalkande Sudantha on surety bails after they have been surrenderd to the Court as per the arrest warrants issued against them.

Accordingly Four Buddhist Monks who are being charged over damaging public properties during a protest campaign of disabled Soldiers held in Colombo in 2016 had been released on surety bails of Rs.150,000 each.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne had issued arrest warrants against the Four Buddhist Monks on last friday (31) over the charges filed  against them.

Although the four Buddhist Monks were released on bail Magistrate has ordered them to give a statement to Colombo Fort Police Over the charges against them.

  • The case filed against Four Buddhist Monks  is due to be taken up for hearing on 07 th of December. 

Price Of Loaf Of Bread To Be Increased By Rs.5

Has decided to increase the loaf of Bread by Rs.5 to be effective from midnight tonight  (03).

Accordingly new Price of Loaf of Bread will be nearly Rs.60.

The Price has been increased due to the price increase of One Kilo Gramme of Flour by Rs.5 according to the Bakery Owners Association.

Former Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando And Two Others Were Remanded Over Financial Fraud

  Johnston  Fernando and two others had been remanded  today (03) by the Kurunagala High Court Judge Menaka Wijeaundara over misusing of State Funds to purchase goods from CWE (Cooperative Wholesale Establishment)to distribute during North Western Provincial Council Elections  until the completion of  Court case filed against them on the incident 

Accordingly Former Trade Minister Johnston Fernando,His private Secretary Mohommad Shakir and Former CWE Chairman Nalin Fernando had been sent to Remand Prison in Kegalle under the orders of Kurunagala High Court Judge.Attorney General had filed indictments against the suspects.

The case filed against the three suspects over the financial fraud scheduled to be heard from 11 th of September.

The suspects are being charged over purchasing goods from CWE outlet in yahampathanna by misusing state funds to distribute among supporters during the 2013 North Western Provincial Council Elections  .

Seven Persons Arrested Over Galaha Incident Had Been Remanded

The seven persons arrested over
creating a Tense situation in front of Galaha Base Hospital last week over a death of a one and half year old infant at the Hospital had been remanded until 06th of September by the Kandy Additional Magistrate yesterday (02).

The seven suspects who were arrested at Delthotawatte in Galaha area by the Police on Saturday night (01) had been remanded after being produced before the court yesterday.
