Five Youth Who Had Been Involved In Crime Activities Arrested In HIKKADUWA

Police have yesterday (24 ) arrested five youth who had been involved in crime
  activities at HIKKADUWA area (Southern Province) with a sword and a Locally made revolver in their possession.

The five suspects who are in the ages of 18-21 years old are residents of Thirana gama, Hikkaduwa and involved in Crimes including attacking three houses in the area with poles,Swords and Helmets , assaulting a man ,woman and a Monk and attacking A Motor car and two Three Wheelers .

They are due to be produced before the court .

Veterinary Surgeons Began Treating Wounds Of Elephant "Kalana" Who Had Been Left Untreated

A team of veterinary surgeons attached to Pinnawala orphanage had today (25)began treating the Elephant "Kalana" of  Sri Upulwan Devalaya(Religious place) at Devinuwara (Southern Province )who had received injuries to his legs through  the chains he was  tied with and left untreated  for several weeks .

The Elephant who is among four Elephants in Sri Lanka carrying sacred relics during processions even not allocated a safe place to stay at Devalaya premises and during the day and night he is staying  at a  open venue  it has been revealed.

A PERSON WAS KILLED AND ANOTHER CRITICALLY INJURED DUE TO A ROAD ACCIDENT

A person was killed and another had
been critically injured and hospitalized after a cab crashed in to a small Hotel at Ibbankatuwa in Galewela on Galewela-Kurunagala main road  last evening (24).

The Cab crashed in to the Hotel after colliding with a Lorry arrived in opposite side it has been revealed.

The critically injured had been admitted to the Dambulla Base Hospital and later transferred to Kandy Teaching Hospital for further treatment .

The deceased was a Mango plucked it has been revealed.

Galewela Police had arrested the Lorry Driver regarding the incident.

Prime Minister Left For Vietnam To Attend An International Summit

An Eight member Sri Lankan
delegation headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has left the island this morning (25) to attend a two day Indian Ocean Summit scheduled to be held on 27 th and 28 th of August at Hanoi,Vietnam.

The two day meeting will discuss the matters related to trade,commerce and security of the Indian region and Regional leaders are due to attend the summit.
