Three A/Level Stidents Were Injured Due To A Road Accident

Three GCE/Advanced Level Students
who were travelling to their Examination Center at Arangala area to sit for the Advanced Level examination had been injured  after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in veering off the road at Kirimatiyana area in Hatton this morning (09).

The injured Students however sat for the today'examinaton paper with their injuries and after the examination they had been admitted to the Nawalapitiya Base Hospital.

One of the injured Students had left the hospital after receiving treatment and other two Students are still receiving treatment at the Hospital it has been reported.

Nawalapitiya Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Six Trains Had Left From Colombo Fort Railway Station

Six Trains had left from Colombo Fort
Railway station this evening (09)to six destinations amidst the Island Wide continous strike launched by Several Railway trade unions according to the Main Railway Control Room.

Accordingly these Trains had left to Kandy,Chilaw,Rambukkana,Galle,Awissawella and Mahawa  areas.

The first out  of these Trains left at 4.30 p.m and the last one left at 6.10 p.m.

The Ministry of Transport had yesterday  (08) requested the retired Engine Drivers to report to work with immediate effect to run the Trains as usual.

Meanwhile The Government Information Department has today announced that Eight trains will leave from Colombo Fort Railway station this evening.

Main Road In Front Of Colombo Fort Railway Station Which Closed Due To Protests Of Commuters Opened-Train Strike Continues

The main road in front of the Colombo Fort Railway station which closed last evening (08)due to the massive protest campaign launched by thousands of Commuters by blocking the two lines of the road against the Railway Strike, had been opened lAston night for transport activities.

Transport activities of the road had disrupted due to the protest campaign  of the commuters which lasted until last night.

Angry commuters had attacked the the main control room of the Colombo Fort Railway station opposing the strike which begun since 3  p..m last evening  (08) without a prior notice.

Riot Police and Special Task Force Personal are being deployed to provide security of the Railway stations it has been reported.

Meanwhile security forces managed to operate a Train to Mahawa area last night.

Train strike still continues  and the Minister of Finance and Media Mangala Samaraweera had requested  the strikers to come to negotiations over their demand.
