Six Prison Superintendents Had Been Transferred

Ministry Of Justice and Prison Reforms has ordered the Prisons Department to transfer six Prison Superintendents with immediate effect.

Accordingly Prison Superintendents attached to Welikada,Mahara, Vavuniya ,Badulla ,Colombo and Anuradapura Prisons had been transferred.

Excise Duty Imposed On A Cigarette Stick Had Been Increased

Ministry of Finance had increased  the excise duty imposed on a cigarette stick by Rs.3.80 with effect from midnight yesterday (01).

Accordingly the price of a Cigarette Stick had been increased by Rs.5 as a result.

Four Workers Were Hospitalized Due To A Fire At A Furniture Shop

A Fire Erupted at a Furniture

manufacturing Shop belonging to a Private Company at Palpola in Kalutara North had been doused by the Fire Brigades in Horana,Kalutara and Bandaragama today (01) with the assistance of Kalutara North Police and residents  of the area.

Due to the fire a worker had been received minor injuries and four ther workers were admitted to Horana Hospital due to breathing problems caused as a result of  inhalation of toxic gas .

The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.

Kalutara North Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.
