Four Workers Were Hospitalized Due To A Fire At A Furniture Shop

A Fire Erupted at a Furniture

manufacturing Shop belonging to a Private Company at Palpola in Kalutara North had been doused by the Fire Brigades in Horana,Kalutara and Bandaragama today (01) with the assistance of Kalutara North Police and residents of the area.

Due to the fire a worker had been received minor injuries and four ther workers were admitted to Horana Hospital due to breathing problems caused as a result of inhalation of toxic gas .

The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.

Kalutara North Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Production Tax Imposed On Imported Small Cars Has Been Increased

The Ministry Of Finance has decided to increase the Production Tax imposed on small Cars with the Engine Capacity less than 1000cc.

Accordingly the Production Tax imposed on small cars with the Engine capacity less than 1000cc running with fuel will be increased by Rs.1.5 million and the production tax imposed on Hybrid cars will be increased by Rs.1.25 million it has been revealed.

A Suspended Police Constable Had Been Arrested With A Haul Of Narcotics

A suspended Police Constable had been

arrested by the Special Police Task Force Personal with 7.850 Mili Grammes of "Heroin" and 2.250 Grammes of "Ice" Narcotic in possession at Minuwangoda area.

The suspect who is a resident of Paliyagoda had been suspended from service due to his relationship with an underworld gang member.

After the service suspension the Police Constable had fled away from Paliyagoda and hidden at a house in Minuwangoda where he was arrested.
