A Police Sergeant Was Arrested Over Accepting A Rs.1000 As A Bribe
The Bribary and Corruption Commission officials have arrested a Police Sergeant while accepting a Rs.1000 as a bribe from a person who was convicted over a traffic accident at Kiribathgoda Police Station this morning(20).
The suspect who is attached to the traffic unit of the Kiribathgoda Police have been arrested while accepting the bribe to release the Driving licence of a person taken in to police custody over an accident it has been revealed.
After conducting an inquiry the suspect is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court.

A Businessman Was Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle Partially Made Jewelry To The Country
A 37 year old Businessman was arrested by the Airport Customs officers this morning (20) while attempting to smuggle a partially made chain and a Bracelet to Sri Lanka illegally at the Katunayake,
Bandaranaike International Airport it has been reported.
The partially made chain and Bracelet taken in to custody in possession of the suspect are weighing 252.73 Grammes and worth around Rs.1.64 nillion it has been revealed.
The suspect who is a resident of Akurana area was arrested after arriving at the Airport from Singapore by Emirates flight.
He was attempting to leave the Airport through Green Channel at the time of his arrest .
Bringing partially made Jewelry to the country is an illegal act according to the Customs.
The arrested Businessman is involved in selling Airlifted goods.

A New Health Secretary Has Been Appointed
Ms.B.G.S Gunathilake has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine with effect from 17th of July by the President Maithripala Sirisena.
