More Than Two Acres Of Land Have Been Destroyed In Somawathiya National Park Due To A Fire

More than Two acres of land belonging to Somawathiya National Wildlife Park located at "Mada Salawa" area between the historical Somawathiya Temple and Periya Aru bridge had destroyed due to a fire erupted there since this noon(19)it has been reported.

The fire is still spreading due to the strong winds prevailing in the area .

Sri Lanka Army,Civil Defense Force personal and Pulasthipura Police with the assistance of fire brigade in Polonnaruwa Municipal Council are currently engaging  in dousing the fire it has been revealed.

The Cause of the fire not yet been revealed.

Two Persons Were Killed Due To Motorcycle-Lorry Collision

Two persons Have Been killed after the Motorcycle they were riding in colliding with a Lorry at
Galewela,Thalakiriyagama area on Dambulle-Kurunagala road last night(18).

 The accident occurred when the Lorry transporting goods to Colombo had attempted turn in to a sub road and the Motorcycle which followed in had collided with the Lorry as the Motorcyclist was not able to control the speed it has been reported.

Former Welikada Police OIC Had Been Sentenced A One Year Imprisonment Over Assaulting A Lawyer

Supreme Court has today(18) ordered to implement the one year rigorous imprisonment imposed on former Welikada Police OIC Kamal Amarasinghe by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court over assaulting ana harrassing a Lawyer.


The order to implement the One year imprisonment on the former OIC had made when taken up for hearing the Appeal filed at Supreme Court by the OIC against the imprisonment.

The former Welikada OIC Amarasinghe was charged on assaulting and harrasing a lawyer over overtaking his vehicle.
