Nearly 138,300 Persons In 20 Districts Have Been Affected And 17 Died Due To Adverse Weather

Nearly 138,300 persons lives in 20
Districts in the Island so far affected and 17 deaths and one disappearence was occurred due to the Adverse weather conditions according to the Disaster Management Center.

Out of the 17 deaths occurred as  a result of adverse weather 07 were occurred due to lightning ,06 were due to drowning in flood waters ,02 due to fallen trees and another 02 due to soil mound collapse the Center has stated.

Meanwhile 20 sluice gates of Thabbowa Wewa are being opened this morning due to the rising water level caused by heavy showers.

Police ,Residents and Disaster Management Center officials have jointly launched a search operation to find the disappeared police constable of Madampe police who was drifted away due strong flood water waves while attempting to save three flood victims.

Heavy showers still continues in many districts and many roads are being submerged in Kurunagala District due to showers.

A Sudden Power Failure Occured In Copletty This Noon

A sudden power failure had been occurred  in and around Colpetty (Colombo) this noon(25)due to a breakdown of an Electricity transmission line from Kolonnawa grid sub station up to the primary sub station in Colpetty.

The breakdown of the electricity transmission line was occurred as a result of a technical default it has been revealed.The electricity supply in Colpetty area had been restored this evening.

Ministry Of Health To Increase The Number Of Males Recruiting To Nursing Staff Of Govt.Hospitals

Ministry of Health ,Nutrition and

Indeginous Medicine is considering to recruit more males to the Government Hospital nursing staff according to the Ministry sources.

Out of the Total number of  around 31,000 nurses currently working in Government Hospitals ,around 1550 are males and that is 5 percent of the total nursing staff the sources have stated.

Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has informed the Government Nursing Officers Union during a discussion held with them at the Ministry recently the Ministey's decision on increasing the number of male nurses of the hospitals.

Minister has also directed a Deputy Director General of Health Services Donald Murage to examine the male nurses percentage in other countries and submitted a report to him .
