Spill Gates Of Udawalawe Reservoir And Kala Wewa Have Been Opened Due To Rising Water Levels
Due to this situation the people living in low land areas around the Udawalawe Reservoir and Kala Wewa are being advised to be vigilant over possible floods.
Train Services Of Upcountry Railway Line Have Been Disrupted Due To A Collapsing Of A Soil Mound And Rocks
Train Services in the up country railway line have been distrupted
for hours this evening(16) due to a collapsing of a soil mound and rocks in to the railway line near the Thalawakale Train Station as a result of the heavy showers experiencing in central hill areas it has been reported.
A Train that was running in the Upcountry railway line at that time had stopped for around one hour till the removing of the Soil mound and rocks fallen to the Railway line has finished.

Private Bus Unions Called Off The Scheduled Strike
Private Bus Unions have decided to
called off the scheduled Island Wide strike as the talks held between Private Bus Union leaders and Transport Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva and Deputy Tranport Minister Ashok Abeysinghe had ended successfully the Unions have stated.
During the talks the Transport Minister has agreed to increase the Bus fares by 12.5 percent with the increasing of minimum bus fare by Rs.2 from Rs.10 to Rs.12.A Cabinet Paper regarding this increase is due to be submitted to the Cabinet on next Tiesday it has been announced.
