A Large Number Of Electrical Equipment Worth Millions Of Rupees Have Been Destroyed Due To A Sudden Fire Erupted In A Store Of A Duty Free Shop

A large number of Electrical Equipment worth Millions of Rupees have been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in a Store belonging to a Duty free shop of a Private Company in Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport this morning(09).

Due to the fire a large number of Electrical Equipment in the store including Television sets,Refrigerators ,Gas Cookers and Washing Machines have been burnt and destroyed and the toxic gas occurred as a result of the fire spreads to several areas of the building where the store is located it has been reported.

However the fire trucks arrived at the scene had doused the fire before spreading it further .The cause of the fire not yet been revealed.

Three Sluice gates of the Udawalawe Reservoir will be opened tonight (08)
due to the rising water levels of the Udawalawe reservoir caused due to the heavy showers prevailing in the area at present according to the Disaster Management Center.

Due to this situation people living in low land areas of Walawe River especially in lower habanthota amd Ambalanthota areas should be vigilant over the move ,The center has stated

Railway Trade Unions Have Postponed The Strike Scheduled Today Until Tomorrow(09)Noon

The strike scheduled to be launched by
the Train drivers from midnight tonight(08) has been postponed until 12 noon tomorrow (09) according to the Railway trade unions.

As the authorities have promised the Railway trade unions to submit a Cabinet paper to the Cabinet which due to meet tomorrow regarding the solving of salary anomaly problem demanded by them ,the strike action will be postponed the Trade Unions have stated.
