Railway Trade Unions Have Postponed The Strike Scheduled Today Until Tomorrow(09)Noon

The strike scheduled to be launched by
the Train drivers from midnight tonight(08) has been postponed until 12 noon tomorrow (09) according to the Railway trade unions.

As the authorities have promised the Railway trade unions to submit a Cabinet paper to the Cabinet which due to meet tomorrow regarding the solving of salary anomaly problem demanded by them ,the strike action will be postponed the Trade Unions have stated.

Public In Central Hill Areas Were Advised To Be Vigilant Over Collapsing Of Soil Mounds And Rocks

The Disaster Management Center (DMC) has today (08) requested the Public lives in the Central Hill areas to be vigilant over a possible collapsing of Soil Mounds and Rocks in their areas due to the heavy showers prevailing in the Hills.

During the last 48 hours several incidents of  collapsing Soil Mounds and Rocks have been reported from several areas including Beragala and Haldummulla in Haputhale and Ella and Wellawaya in Badulla according to the Center.

Motorists and the pedestrians are being  advised to be vigilant when using the roads in these areas .

Sixteen SLFP MP's Who Had Resigned From The Government Had Crossed Over To The Opposition

The 16 SLFP MP's had crossed over to the Opposition from government bench amidst booing of the United National Party (UNP) MP's this morning when the Parliament met for the first time  after the Sinhalese and Hindu New Year .However the Opposition had welcomed the rebel MP's .

The second session of the eighth Parliament was ceremonially inaugurated today under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
