A New Uniform Has Been Introduced To The Family Health Officers

A new uniform has been introduced to

the Family Health officers in Sri Lanka by the Ministry of Health yesterday(05) during the commemorating ceremony of the International Family Health Day held in Polonnaruwa.

Accordingly the traditional white  frock uniform worn   by the family health officers  will be replaced with a short  sleeve Blouse and a trouser both in white color it has been announced.The circular regarding the introduction of the new uniform was issued yesterday by the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne during the ceremony held yesterday under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

During the ceremony The Health Minister has stated that a cabinet memorandum will be submitted to get an approval to provide motorcycles to fanily health officers who have not received them previously .

Residents Prevented Cut Down Of A 200 Year Old Tree In Badulla

An  attempt made  by State Timber

Corporation officials to cut down a 200 year old tree believes to be a Mahogany variety located in front of the Badulla District Secretariat had been prevented due to the protests of residents in the area it has been reported yesterday(05).

However amidst the protests of the residents in the area the State Timber Corporation officials had chopped some branches of the old tree by stating that they were decayed.But the residents of the area have said that the branches of the tree are not decaying and are in good form.

A 20 Year Old Youth Has Died After Collapsing Of A Tree And A Sand Mound In To His House

A 20 year old youth in Gonawalapathana has died and

his brother received minor injuries after a huge tree and a soil mound had collapsed in to their house last night (05) during the heavy showers prevaild in the area.

The youth who was under the rubble was rescued by the residents of the area ,but he had succumbed to his injuries while carrying to the Nawalapitiya Base Hospital it has been reported.

The incident taken place while the deceased youth and his brother watching Television in the living room of their house.The living room was damaged due to the collapse of the tree and soil mound at once .

The house of the deceased located in  a low land area surrounded with sand mounts.

A 16 Year Old Student Has Drowned In Akuressa

A 16 year old student attached to the

Athuraliya Collage in Akuressa has drowned while bathing in Kithanawala Wewa(River) at Athuraliya in Akuressa last friday(04) with his friends.

The residents of the area have recovered the body of the student during a search operation .

A 17 Year Year Old Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Motorcycle-Bus Collision

A 17 year old Motorcyclist was killed

due to a Motorcycle -Bus acccident occurred at Danketiya area in Tangalle-Weeraketiya main road last morning(05).

The accident occurred when a Bus attempting to overtake another Bus and as a result the Bus attempting to overtake collided with the Motorcycle ridden by the deceased Motorcyclist according to the Tangalle Police.
