Ban Imposed On Using "Glyphosate" In Tea And Rubber Has Been Removed-

The ban imposed on using  of controversial "Glyphosate " substance for local crop cultivation's  will be lifted  only for Tea and Rubber crops the Minister Of Plantation Industries Naveen Dissanayake has announced today (02).

According to the Minister the President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe have been informed on this and a Cabinet approval is due to be taken to implement the removal of ban imposed over Utilizing "Glyphosate " for Tea and Rubber .

 The removal of the ban on using "Glyphosate" in Tea and Rubber crops has been taken after a stock of Tea exported to Japan was sent back to Sri Lanka due to contamination of another pesticide chemical use in  Tea cultivation.

Importing,Distributing and Selling of "Glyphosate" in Sri Lanka has banned by the Good Governance government in 2015 over it's link to spreading of unknown Kidney Disease spreading in most parts of the country.

 Glyphosate is a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide and crop desiccant. It is an organophosphorus compound, specifically a phosphonate. It is used to kill weeds, especially annual broad leaf weeds and grasses that compete with crops.

Twenty Seven Suspects Of The Racist Violence In Kandy Further Remanded

Twenty seven persons including the leader of "Mahason Balakaya'(Mahason Force) who have been remanded in connection with the racist violence activities occurred in some areas of the  Kandy last March have been further remanded until 14th of May by the Theldeniya Magistrate Court today(02).

The suspects were produced before the Theldeniya Magistrate Court this morning.
