Temporary Blocking Of Social Media Sites And Apps Has Been Further Extended -Telecommunication Regulatory Commission

The Telecommunication Regulatory
Commission (TRC) has taken steps to block the Social Media sites including Facebook, What's App and Imo further after considering the situation in Kandy the Commission has statedone.

The Commission had also launched an inquiry regarding those who have accessed these blocked Social Media sites and Apps through different techniques it haseems been revealed.

TRC has also began an  investigation on those who are posting Racist  moments and photographs in Social Media with the assistance of Criminal Investigation s  Department (CID) .

Meanwhile internet and Social Media Sites /Apps have been completely  blocked in Kandy District since yesterday (07)it has been revealed. 

Two Persons Were Killed And Eleven Injured Due To Violence In Kandy

Two persons were killed and eleven persons were injured and hospitalized due to the violent activities Erupted in several places of Kandy District during 04 th of March to 08th March (Today)according to the Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekare.

Around seventy one persons have been arrested during the last four days over the violence Erupted in Digana, Thel deniya, Manikhinna,Akurana,Pallekale ,Katugasthota,Ambathanne areas of Kandy District he has stated.

Many business establishments,Houses and trade stalls belongs to Muslim Community in these areas have been burnt and destroyed it has been revealed.Religious Centers were also under threat and there are reports of pelting stones at other Religious Centers.


Ten Suspects Arrested Over Violence In Kandy Have Been Brought To Colombo

The ten suspects including the main
suspect who were responsible for the violent activities in Digana, Theldeniya,Ambathanne,Pallekale areas in Kandy District during last few days have been brought to Colombo for questioning.

These suspects who were outsiders entered Kandy District  in purpose of damaging houses and properties of a community ,will be questioned while in police detention for 14 days under the State Of Emergency regulations the Police have stated.
