Police Curfew Has Been Imposed Within Kandy Administrative Area Due To The Clashes In Digana

Police curfew has been imposed within Kandy
 Administrative area since this evening (05) untill 6 a.m tomorrow (06)due to a clash occurred between two communities at Digana in Kandy this noon.


Due to the clash several properties have been burnt and there are reports that one person  was injured due to the clashes.Police have fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse those who were involved in the clash Kandy police have stated.

No one was arrested regarding the incident upto now.

Popular Yesteryear Singer Irene De Alwis Has passed away at the age of 74 years following prolonged illness it has been announced today(05).

The late Irene De Alwis had sung popular songs including Dasa Pa Sina song during her career.

Her Funeral is due to be held at Wadduwa on this Wednesday.

A 16 Year Old Youth Has Drowned While Bathing In Pamunugama-ThalDiyawanna Sea Area

අදාළ රූපයA 16 Year Old Youth has drowned and dissipated while bathing in Pamunugama-Thaldiyawanna Sea  area after drifting away by the strong sea waves.
The deceased who is a resident of Karapinchawatte in Ratnapura had drowned while bathing with few other persons .
Police and Navy have launched a search operation wit the help of the residents to find out the missing youth according to Pamunugama Police.

Fifty One Farmers Who Were Arrested Over Protesting And Pelting Stones At Police In Thambuttegama Were Released On Bail

court order සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලFifty One Farmers in Thambuttegama area who were arrested and remanded  over violently acting  during a protest held against a Drinking Water Bottle Manufacturing Project based on Rajanganya Wewa (River) and pelting stones at Thambutthegama Police were  released on bail by the Thambuttegama Magistrate Court today(05).

The group of persons were arrested on 28th of February and remanded until today(05) after being produced before the Court.

Consumer Affairs Authority Granted Permission To Increase Prices Of Two Locally Made Cement Varieties

Consumer Affairs Authority had granted permission to increase the prices of  two  locally made Cement varieties.

Accordingly The Authority had given permission to  increase the 50 Kilo Gramme locally made Cement Pack by Rs.30 with effect from this Wednesday(07).As per the new price increase the Price of 50 Kilo Gramme Locally made Cement Pack will be increased from Rs.930 to Rs.960 according to sources.

The price increase was allowed due to the high cost borne by Local Cement Manufacturers when importing raw materials for Cement Production it has been revealed.
