President Seeks Legal Advise From Attorney General Over Removing Prime Minister Wikramasinghe From The Post-Joint Opposition

President Maithripala Sirisena  seeks legal advise of the  Attorney General and legal experts regarding the possibility of removing Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe from the Post according to the Joint Opposition Group.

The Joint Opposition Group MP's were held discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena at his official residence in Wijerama Mawatha,Colombo this noon over the forming of a Sri Lanka Frredom Party Government.

However according to the experts  under the 19th amendment introduced to the Constitution by  Good Governance  government after coming  to power .President could not remove Prime Minister and only through a impeachment /No confidence motion passed in Parliament with  two thirds majority Prime Minister can be removed from his post.The only other option available to remove Prime Minister is he him self resigning from the post .

Joint Opposition Will Support President To Form A Government If SLFP Withdraws From National Government-Former President Rajapakshe

The Joint Opposition group representing the newly
formed Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna will support the President to form a Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)government unconditionally if the SLFP withdraws from the National government lead by UNP according to the former president Mahinda Rajapakshe.

He had stated this after atttending a religious ceremony held at Abayaramaya Temple in Narahenpita last evening.

Fourth Suspect An Army Captain Involved In A Gang Raping Of A Nurse Was Arrested

The fourth suspect who was responsible for the gang
raping of a female nurse attached to a private hospital in Narahenpita who is an Army Captain attached to the Mannar Army camp was arrested by the Narahenpita Police on wednesday (14).

Three suspects including an Army doctor and an Engineer were arrested and remanded over the Gang rape case until today (16).

The suspect is due to produce before the Hulftsdorf Magistrate Court.
