A Seven Member Sri Lankan Team Had Left Abudhabi To Bring Former Sri Lankan Ambassador To Russia Udayanga Weerathunge

A seven member special team  including two members

attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID),Two senior  members of Attorney General's Department ,An official of the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and an Officer attached to the Police Financial Crimes Division had left to Abudhabi the Capital city of Dubai today (06)to bring the former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weerathunge who was arrested in Dubai,to Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan Team will hold discussions with the Abudhabi Officials in state level and bring Udayanga Weerathunge who is the main suspect of the controversial Mig Aircraft Deal ,to Sri Lanka according to the authorities.

Weerathunge was arrested by the Immigration and Emigration Department Officials at Dubai International Airport on last Sunday (04)when he attempted to fly to USA with his family members.




First Day Of The Three Day Debate On Cenrral Bank Bond Scam And Serious Fraud And Corruption Commission Reporrts Had Concluded Today

The first day of the three day debate on Central Bank
Bond Scam and Serious Fraud and Corruption commission reports had concluded with heated debates and participation of lowest number of MP's for a debate today (06).

Although the Joint Opposition and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party which is an allied party of the Government had requested a debate over these Commission reports ,Most number of MP's from both factions including former President and current MP Mahinda Rajapakshe had not participated for the debate held today between 10.30  a.m to 4 p.m at the Parliament.

Several MP' s attached to the both government and opposition were present during the mornning session of the debate only four members remained till end of the debate after 2 p.m.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe had begun the debate while stating that the government had taken steps to punish  those responsible for the Central Bank Bond Scam .

Main opposition Tamil National  Alliance  had boycotted   the patliamentary debate and he was

The leader of the Leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna had requested the government to produce the chief suspecrs of the Bond Scam imprisoned Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palisena before the Parliament.

MP Wimal Weerawanshe of the Joint Opposition has stated that the big thieves of the Central Bank Bond Scam too should be arrested not only the small thieves.

The debate is due to be held on 20th and 21st of February as well.

Six Estate Workers Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Road Accident

Six Estate Workers were injured four of them critically and hospitalized after the Lorry they were traveling in veering off the road and fallen in to a deep precipice at Moda wanguwa area in Urubokka-Dampahala this morning(06).

The Injured were admitted to the  Heegoda  Rural Hospital in Urubokke and  four of the Critically injured workers were later transferred to the Embilipitiya Base Hospital for further treatment.

Central Bank Bond Scam :Impriosned Owner And CEO Of The Perpetual Treasuries Have Been Transferred To A Safe Priosn Cell

Image result for new magazine prisonThe imprisoned owner of the Perpetual Treasuries Limited Arjun Aloysius and the Chief Executive Officer of the Company Kasun Palisena who have been remanded until the 16th of February over their involvement on Central Bank Bond Scam , were transferred to a Special safe Prison Cell in New Magazine Prison ,Colombo due to their own security according to the Prison authorities .

However the new Prison Cell which the two Bond Scam suspects are currently in is not a luxurious one the authorities have stated.

The two suspects were remanded until 16th of February by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne after they have been produced  before her yesterday(05).
