A Chief Incumbent Of A Temple In Panamura Was Arrested Over Excavating The Temple Land In Search Of A Treasure

Panamura  Police have today (03)arrested the Chief
Incumbent of a Temple in Panamura ,Embilipitiya over excavating the land inside the temple in search of a treasure .

Police have also taken in to custody an equipment used by the suspected monk for the excavation work during the raid carriedout this morning.

Another two persons who had supported the monk to excavate the temple land in search of a treasure had fled away from the scene and Police are investigating on to arrest the suspects.

Final Rites Of The Late Bellanwila Thero To Be Performed On Next Thursday

The final rites of the the Chief Incumbent of the
Bellanwila Rajamaha Temple late Professor Venerable  Bellanwila Wimalaratne Thero is scheduled be held at Sri Jayawardanapura University Grounds in Nugegoda on next Thursday (08) at 3 p.m according to the Funeral Committee.

Late Bellanwila Thero who was also the Chancellor of Sri Jayawardanapura University had passed away today (03) at a Private Hospital in Colombo while receiving treatment for critical injuries received due to an Elephant attack in his temple.

The late Thero was transferred to the Private Hospital from South Colombo Teaching Hospital .

Two Company Officials Were Arrested With 48,400 Illegal Cigarette Sticks Brought From Kuwait

Airport Customs Officers have arrested two officers
attached to a one of the key companies in Colombo who brought 242 Cigarette Cartons containing 48,400 Foreign made Cigarettes sticks  from Kuwait illegally to Sri Lanka at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport today (03).

The two suspected officers brought the illegal stock of Cigarette cartons after spending a holiday in Kuwait it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the Cigarette Sticks taken innto custody in possession of the two suspects is around Rs.2.42 million according to the Customs.

The two suspects were arrested over the charges of bringing Cigarette sticks made in a foreign country which is banned in Sri Lanka without declaring it to the Customs it has been revealed.

Bellanwila Thero Had Passed Away After receiving Critical Injuries Due To An Elephant Attack

The Chief Incumbant of the Bellanwila Rajamaha
Temple Professor Venerable Bellanwila Wimalaratne Thero who was hospitalized due to an Elephant attack had passed away today (03)while receiving treatment at a Private Hospital in Colombo.

Few ribs of the  Late Thero's spinal chord were broken after the Elephant Miyankumara had attacked him while feeding yesterday (02)morning at Bellanvila Temple.

The Bellanwilla Thero was rushed to the South Colombo Teaching Hospital for treatment by the devotees and he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.However later in the evening the critically injured Thero who was 75 years old transferred to a Private Hospital for further treatment where he had passed away.
