Two Company Officials Were Arrested With 48,400 Illegal Cigarette Sticks Brought From Kuwait

Airport Customs Officers have arrested two officers
attached to a one of the key companies in Colombo who brought 242 Cigarette Cartons containing 48,400 Foreign made Cigarettes sticks  from Kuwait illegally to Sri Lanka at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport today (03).

The two suspected officers brought the illegal stock of Cigarette cartons after spending a holiday in Kuwait it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the Cigarette Sticks taken innto custody in possession of the two suspects is around Rs.2.42 million according to the Customs.

The two suspects were arrested over the charges of bringing Cigarette sticks made in a foreign country which is banned in Sri Lanka without declaring it to the Customs it has been revealed.
