Train Workers Who Do Not Reported To Work To Be Considered As Vacated Their Posts

Due to declare as an essential service, the leave of all
the train workers has been cancelled and those workers who do not report to work will be considered as vacated their posts the Minister of Transport Nimal Siripala De Silva has stated.

The Railway trade unions which are leading strike have demanding to amend the recruitment procedure of Train workers which cannot be done Minister has said during a media briefing held today (09).

Meanwhile Railway Department has today requested the train workers engaged in the strike to report to work with immediatte effect as the Train service declared as an essential service since this morning.

The Railway Trade Unions representing Train drivers,Station Masters and Train Guards have decided to continue their strike until their demands are met.

Hambanthota Harbour Was Handed Over To Two Chinese Companies On Lease

Hambanthota Harbour was handed over to two
Chinese Companies on lease for development work this morning (09)at the Parliamentary Complex.

The handing over of the Hambanthota Harbour taken place as per an agreement signed between Sri Lankan Government and Chinese companies.

The agreement was ratified by the Cabinet on last Thursday (07).

As per the agreement signed by Sri Lankan government,Sri Lanka Ports Authority ,Hambanthota International Port Group,Hambanthota International Port Services and China Merchants Port Holdings Private Limited the  Operations of the Harbour will be commenced today (09).

A Tusker Has Died Due To An Electrocution

A tusker has died due to an electrocution in a paddy
field at Alagollawa in Anuradhapura District last evening (09) according to the Wildlife officers.

Ritigala Wildlife Officers had recovered the body of the Tusker who was the third tusker to be killed
During last two weeks.

The tusker believed to be of the age around 15-20 years old.

Police had arrested the owner of the Paddy field regarding the tusker's death.

The Post Mortem of the deceased tusker due to be held today (09).
