Water Levels Of Nilwala,Gin And Kalu Rivers Are On The Increase

Due to the adverse weather affected to Southern  and
Sabaragamuwa Provinces the water levels of Nilwala,Gin and Kalu Rivers are on the increase according to the Disaster Management Center.

The Center again has advised the people living in low land areas around the rivers to be vigilant over possible floods .

Government To Provide Rs.10,000 For An Adverse Weather Affected Family

Government will provide Rs.10,000 each for families
affected due to the adverse weather according to the Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa.

President Maithripala Sirisena had yesterday (30)advised the Presidential Secretary Austin Munasinghe and the Minister Yapa from South Korean Capital Seoul to get the assistance of tri forces to provide relief for those who are affected due to the adverse weather.

Meanwhile Ministry of Home affairs had introduced 1902 hotline  to the public to inform any incident related to adverse weather.

Thirty One Persons Had Arrested Over Attempting To Go Abroad Illegaly Through Boats

Arachchikattuwa Police had arrested 31 persons who
attempted to go to three countries illegally though  boats in Naguleliya area of  Arachchikattuwa area today (30).

Accordingly the group of persons arrested has planned to go to Australia,New -Zealand and Italy through boats.

The arrested persons are residents of Jaffna,Udappuwa and Mulathivu areas and they had  left from Udappuwa coastal area and due to the adverse weather their boats washed away to Naguleliya area  according to the Police.

Police Had Arrested Nine "Ava" Group Members With It's Leader

Police had today(30) arrested six members of the
Jaffna underworld sword group "Ava"group including it"s leader Mohommad Ikram  while staying in a house at Biyagama area.

As per the information received from them another three "Ava" group members had arrested in Vavuniya and Paranthan areas with three sharp objects,four swords and a hand bomb in their possession.

The arrested suspects are of the ages 17-22 years.


Many Families In Landslide Risk Areas Have Been Evacuated

Many families in landslide risk areas of Meeriyabadde-Koslanda,Ella and Haputhale
areas have been evacuated from their houses and moved them  to temporary shelters today (30).

Accordingly 15 families in kolathanne  ,Gurukandura village of Ella  Divisional Secretariat and 173 families in Galanorwatte,Belwood and Govawatte estates had removed from their houses and shifted to temporary shelters  today .

Three Vehicles Got Damaged Due To A Fallen Rocks

Three vehicles had damaged due to a falling of rocks
and sand on to the Ratnapura-Badulla main road at  Haldummala,Haputhale and Beragala areas today (30).

Accordingly a Van,Three Wheeler and a Lorry were damaged due to the incident.However no one in the vehicles got injured it has been revealed.

The Rocks and sand fallen on to the road had been removed according to reports.
