Mother Nature Unkind To Many Areas As Strong Winds And Heavy Showers Caused Tree Falls,Power Cuts And Disruption Of Transport Activities In Five Districts

Mother nature unkind to many areas in Five Districts since last evening as falling of trees as a result of the strong winds up to 80 Kilo Meters per hour experienced in  Galle,Matara ,Hambanthota ,Colombo and Kalutara had destroyed many properties and houses and disrupted electricity supply as well.

Due to the fallen trees as a result of the strong winds many areas in Galle,Matara and Hambanthota  experiences electricity cuts since last evening.The restoring of electricity supply to  these areas are being delayed due to the continuous sowers and winds the authorities have stated.

Transport activities in many areas in southern province including Ambalangoda area have been disrupted since last evening as a result of the fallen trees towards the main roads .Sign boards fallen on to the roads in many areas according to reports.

Two persons were injured and hospitalized after a Tree had fallen on to the Motor Car they were traveling in at Kiribathgoda last night .The injured were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.

Due to the Heavy showers and strong winds train services in Kelany valley and Upcountry railway lines have been disrupted and due to the strong winds experienced in Katunayake three flights two Sri Lankan flights arrived in from Chennai and Bangalore in India and a Air Asia flight arrived in from Kuala Lampur in Malaysia had been diverted to Mattala International Airport in Hambanthota last night.

The diverted flights had returned Katunayake International Airport this morning after the weather in the area had improved.

Heavy Showers Increased The Water Levels Of Nilwala And Gin Rivers In South-Twenty Five Houses In Norwood And Bagawanthalawa Submerged

Image result for nilwala and gin overflowingDue to the heavy showers prevailing in many areas of Southern Province and Central Hill areas since last evening(29)  around twenty five   houses and low land areas in Norwood and Bagawanthalawa areas as well as Norwood ground have submerged  due to the overflowing of  Keselgamu Oya and Niwalal and Gin Rivers in south have reached overflowing level according to the Irrigation Department.

Due to the floods in Norwood and Bagawanthyalawa areas people in the  submerged houses have been moved to safe places it has been reported.

Accordingly Nilwala River has reached overflowing level from Pitabaddara,Sapugoda and  Panadugama areas and Gin River has reached overflowing level from Thawalama area the Department has stated.

The Irrigation Department has appealed the public residing around those rivers to be in alert as the water levels  of these rivers have reached overflowing level.

Several Train Journeys From Badulle To Colombo Have Been Suspended Due To A Falling Of Sand And Rocks In Upcountry Railway Line

Due to a falling down of a sand mount and several rocks on to the Rail track near a Tunnel  between Ohiya and Idalgashinna Train stations attached to the Upcountry Railway Line several trains running from Badulle to Colombo have been temporarily suspended according to the Railway Control room.

As a result of the heavy showers prevailing in the area a sand mount and several rocks had fallen on to the rail track of Upcountry Railway Line according to the sources.

The workers of the maintenance section of the Railways Department along with Army Officers and officials of the Disaster Management Center are being involved in removing the sand and rocks on the Rail Track it has been revealed.

Nineteen Bus Passangers Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Road Accident

Image result for accidentNineteen Bus Passengers have  been injured  four of them critically and hospitalized due to a head on collision between tow Private Buses at Thalalla.Gandara area today(29).

The Injured were admitted to the Thalalla Rural Hospital and Matara General Hospital for treatment.Three School Children and four females are among the injured and four persons admitted to the Matara Hospital  are in critical condition it has been reported.

One Bus which collided with another Bus was traveling from Tangalle yo Matara and other Bus was traveling from Matara To Dikwella area .

A Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Motorcycle-Bus Collision

A Youth Motorcyclist was killed after the Motorcycle he was riding colliding with a Private Bus running in the same direction at Meegoda,Puwakwatte area on Padukke-Colombo main road thi soon (29).

The critically injured Motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Homagama Base Hospital.The accident was occurred when the Private Bus attempted to overtake the Motorcycle it has been revealed.

The deceased youth had been identified as a resident of Homagama area attached to a Private Company.

Meepe Police had arrested the Private Bus Driver regarding the accident.
