Education Minister Instructed The Authorities To Investigate On The Principal Who Expelled A Female Student Over A False Charge

Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had
instructed the Secretary to the Ministry of Education Sunil Hettiarachchi to investigate on the incident which a state school principal of Dambulle area falsely expelled a Grade 10 f em ale student from the school by suspecting she was pregnant after she had vomitted in school.

Minister had instructed the Secretary to investigate the action taken by the principal of Revatha Collage in Odatugama,Dambulle regarding the vomitted female student and take steps against the principal if proved any wrongdoing it has been revealed.

A medical check up conducted by the Dambulle Hospital proved that the female student is not pregnant and vomitted at school due to starving.She eats only one meal per day as her parents are poor it has been revealed.

The female student still in Dambulle Hospital taking trearment for her mental downfall it has been revealed.

Rail Workers Decided To Suspend The Proposed Strike

Railway trade unions have temporarily suspended the
proposed rail workers strike scheduled to be launched from midnight tonight (20) after talks held with deputy Transport Minister Ashoka Abeysinghe the Unions have announced.

Four catagories of Rail workers including Train drivers,Station Masters,Rail Guards and controllers have decided to launch the strike by demanding solution for their salary anomaly issue.

As the Deputy Transport Minister had promised the trade union representatives to provide solutions for their demand after consulting with Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe,President Maithripala Sirisena and Transport Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva this noon Railway trade unions have decided to suspend the strike.

Two Persons In Grandpass Arrested Over Keeping Kerala Cannabis In Their Possession

Special police task force personal had today
(20)arrested two persons with a stock  of Kerala Cannabis in their possession and a person who attempted to offer Rs.300,000 as a bribe to the police to release the suspects  in Mahawatte at Grandpass area.

Accordingly a male was arrested with 2.5 Kilo grammes of Kerala Cannabis and a female was arrested with 2.5 grammes of the same  narcotic in their possession and another person was arrested after attempting to bribe the police by offering Rs.400,000.

The suspects are residents of Grandpass and Pethiyagoda areas and they were  handed over to the Grandpass police it has been reported.

The suspects are due to be produced before the court.

Heavy Traffic Reported In Colombo-Kandy Road Due To A Bursting Of A Pipe Line

Related imageHeavy Traffic had been reported on Kandy-Colombo road since this morning(20) due to a bursting  of an internal pipe line near the BO Tree at Kadawatha.

Due to the bursting of the pipe line , water supply to Ganemulle road,Kiribathgoda-Pushparamaya road,Gonahena Road,Ragama Road and Kadawatha City  has been suspended for 16 hours according to the National Water Supplies And Drainage Board.

The heavy traffic still prevails in  lane where the vehicles arriving in to Colombo on Colombo-Kandy road.
