Railway Trade Unions Have Temporarily Suspended Their Strike
Railway trade unions have temporarily suspended
their strike launched since last evening (11)after the discussion held with president's secretary this evening.
During the discussion Presidential Secretary has given a written assuarance to the trade unions on solving their demands through a committee.
Although the Railway trade unions representing Train drivers and Railway guards had suspended their strike the train services will be returned to normalcy fully from tomorrow morning (13) according to the authorities.
However a limited number of trains are beingoperated tonight and the night mail train is not running today they have said.

Conveners Of Inter University Students Federation And Inter University Bhikku Students Federation Have Been Remanded Over Anti SAITM Protest
Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has today(12) remanded the convener of Inter University Students Federation(IUSF) Lahiru Weerasekare and convener of the Inter University Bhikku Students Federation Tampitiye Sugathanande Thero over organizing a Anti SAITM Protest march by violating the court order ,until 26 th of October.
The protest march was conducted from Town Hall to Colpetty on Tuesday and the protesters have been dispersed by the riot police at Colpetty Junction by using Tear Gas and Water cannons.
The suspects have been remanded after they have been appeared before the court today to face another case filed against them.

ASP In Tangalle Who Has Been Charged Over Assaulting A Youth In Hambanthota Has Been Transferred
Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) in Tangalle Thushara Daluwatte who has been charged over assaulting a youth who involved in the protest march conducted by Joint Opposition group last week at Hamabanthota against handing over Mattala Airport and Hambanthota Harbour to foreign countries ,has been transferred to Matara with immediate effect.
The transfer was made as per an instructions of the National Police Commission.
An investigation is currently underway on the assault case under the instructions of Inspector General of Police(IGP)
One of the organizers of the protest march UPFA MP Namal Rajapakshe recently had severely criticized the assaulting of a youth by ASP Daluwatte during the protest march held in Hambanthota.

Railway Trade Unions To Continue Their Strike After The Discussion With Transport Minister Fails
Railway trade unions have decided to continue the strike they have started yesterday(11) evening until received solutions for their demands after failing to reach an agreement during a discussion held with Transport Minister Nimal Siripala De silva today(12).
Due to the Railway strike launched by Train drivers and Railway guards without prior notice public especially employees and students have faced enormous difficulties since last evening as all Train services started from Colombo fort and Maradana Railway stations have been cancelled by the authorities as a result of the strike.
As a result of the strike most of the office trains scheduled to begin this morning from Colombo Fort and Maradana Railway stations have been cancelled and only 12 train journeys conducted during morning session according to the Railway authorities.
Meanwhile Railway Authorities have stated that they have taken steps to conduct maximum Train journeys throughout the day by using the Railway workers who have reported to work and also with the collaboration with Sri Lanka Transport Board(SLTB) have planned to utilized more SLTB Buses for transport activities of the convenience of Train passengers.
Meanwhile Deputy Transport Minister Ashok Abeysinghe has stated that Government will declare the Train service as an essential service.
According to reports Transport Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva has decided to take an advice of Attorney General to take a legal action against Railway Trade Unions over launching a strike at 5 p.m yesterday although they have earlier announced the strike will be launched from 12 in the midnight.

A Technical Officer In Madulla Arrested Over Accepting A Rs.18,000 As A Bribe
Bribery Commission officials have arrested a technical
officer attached to the District secretariat in Madulla ,Monaragala over accepting a sum of Rs.18,000 as a bribe from a person regarding an official work.
The suspected officer had taken the bribe to give a recommendation to a person on contract money relevant to a road development work.
