Lotus Road Has Been Closed Down This Morning Due To A Protest

Image result for lotus roadLotus Road in Colombo Fort has been temporarily closed down this morning(09) due to a protest march organized by Government Pensioners Union.

The protest march had begun in front of the Colombo Fort Railway Station this morning by demanding solutions for several demands including   removing  the salary anomalies of Pensioners . 

Due to the Protest a heavy traffic had been reported in the area for several hours  .

Eight Persons Remanded Over Protesting Against Rohingya Refugees Have Been Further Remanded

Eight persons including venerable Akmeemana Dayaratne Thero who were  imprisoned due to the obstructive behavior shown in front of the residence in Mount Lavinia where a group of Rohingya Refugees of Myanmar were kept in have been further remanded until 16th of October by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court today(09).

Seven of the suspects excluding Akmeemana Dayaratne Thero are being ordered to produced for an identification parade regarding the charge leveled against them on 16th of October .The case regarding the obstructive behavior of the suspects are due to proceed tomorrow(10).

Around Twenty Health Trade Unions To Launch A One Day Token Strike On 25th Of October

Image result for strikeAround 20 Health Trade Unions representing Government Health Professions including Professions Supplementary To Medicine (PSM's),Government Registered And Assistant Medical Officers .Para Medical Officers and Government Nurses are due to launch an Island Wide One day token strike on 25th of October  by demanding to remove salary anomaly occurred in Health professions  according to the Health Professions Joint Co-Federation.

The Health Trade  Unions are demanding to remove the salary anomaly created in Health Sector  as a result of granting the Salary scales entitled to Health Professions to the professions attached to the Railway sector the Co-Federation has stated.

Sri Lanka Imposed Sanctions Against North Korea

Sri Lanka has also imposed sanctions against North
Korea as per the instructions given by United Nations to it's member countries according to the Ministry Of Foreign affairs.

Accordingly Sri Lankans here and abroad are strictly banned from exchanging nuclear weapons,storing,transporting ,keeping in possession or supplying with North Korea until the country has stopped it's nuclear testing which becomes a threat to International peace the Ministry has stated.

Under the sanctions supplying ships and ship  crew members on rental and lease to North Korea as well as supplying fuel to that country have been banned and North Korean financial institutions too not allowed to open their branches in Sri Lanka.

Those who violate these provisions will face either a five year imprisonment or a fine not exceeding Rs.05 million or both punishments as per a high court order the Ministry has stated.
