Airport Customs Have Arrested An Indian National With A Stock Of Gold

Airport customs have arrested a 21 year old Indian

National while attempting to smuggle a stock of Gold weighing 435 grammes out of the country at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The stock of Gold in possession of the suspect  including a Gold chain and 16 pieces of Gold had concealed in his luggage according to the Customs.


The estimated value of the stock of Gold is more than Rs.2 million the Customs have stated.

The suspect had been released after imposing a Rs.30,000 fine.

Two Persons Had Been Arrested With A Stock Of Burutha Timber

Two persons have been arrested while transporting a

stock of 'Burutha' timber from weeraketiya to colombo illegally by a Lorry at Udawalawe area.

The Lorry was also taken into custody by the special police task force personal along with wild life officers in Embilipitiya who had carried out the raid.

The value of the stock of timber taken into custody is more than Rs.5 million.The suspects and the lorry had been handed over to Embilipitiya police for future course  of action.

Seven Members Of Same Family Injured Due To A Vehicle Collision

Seven members of  a same family have been injured

two of them critically and hospitalized  after a Three wheeler they were travelling in colliding with a motor car and a van in Enderagala kanda area on Dambulla-Habarana main road last evening (30).

The injured were admitted to the Dambulla hospital for treatment.

The injured are residents of Kandy area.Sigiriya traffic police which investigating on the incident had taken into custody the Three wheeler,Motor car and the Van over the accident.

Sixty Five Police Officers In Katugasthota Police Station Had Been Transferred

Sixty five police officers including 17 police sargents

 and 36 police constables attached to Katugasthota Police had been transferred with immediatte effect according to the Police headquarters .

A section of the transferred police officers had been transferred over indisciplined behaviour and another section had been transferred due to working in the same police station for long time the Police headquarters has announced.

However some reports have stated that these Police officers have been transferred over misplacing a police report book  related to a heroin raid.
