Tribunal Judge Panel In Jaffna Sentenced Seven Accused Persons To Death Over Rape And Murder Of Jaffna School Girl Vidya
The tribunal Judge panel comprising with three High Court Judges ,Jaffna High Court Judge Manikavasagar Ilanveliyan,Vavuniya High Court Judge Balendran Shashi Mahendran and Trincomalee High Court Judge Annalingam Premashanker had today(27) sentenced seven out of nine accused persons of rape and murder of Jaffna School Girl Shivayoganadan Vidya to death.
Two of the accused of Vidya's case have been released by the Judge Panel due to lack of evidence against them.
The seven accused persons who received death sentence today including the main suspect Mahalingam Shashi Kumar allias "Swiss Kumar " have found guilty over abduction and rape and murder of 15 year old Jaffna School girl Shivayoganadan Vidya on 13th of May 2015 in Jaffna.
The school girl was abducted by the accused under the instructions of main suspect Swiss Kuamr who arrived in Jaffna from Switzerland to make a blue film it has been revealed.When the residents of Jaffna assaulted the main suspect Swiss Kumar after revealed he has organized the crime ,Jaffna MP Vijaykala Maheshwaran had interfered and ordered to release him according to reports.
The former Deputy Inspector General Of Police(DIG) in Central Province Lalith Jayasinghe too arrested over releasing the main suspect of the case Swiss Kumar after he was arrested by Police and given him police protection .However he had been released on conditional bail recently by the Court.
The Case of Vidya's Rape and Murder was heard in Kayts Magistrate Court after Kayts Police and Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested the suspects following an investigation on them.
Indian Media too gave much publicity for this case during the court proceedings.

Central Province Education Secretary Who Is Charged Over Using School Children To Hold A Saree Fall Transferred To Uva Province

Wijeyratne who had been accused by the Central provincial governor Niluka Ekanayake over using school children to hold the world's longest saree fall at a wedding during school hours in Kandy last week,has been transferred to the Uva Province as it's chief secretary.
The Presidential Secretariet has made this transfer and it's nothing to do with the charges levied against the Education secretary on saree fall issue acvording to the Central provincial governors office.

Colombo High Court Imposed A Suspended Prison Sentence To The Former Chief Registrar Of Colombo High Court Over Cheating Court Funds
Colombo High Court has yesterday (26) imposed a 22
month prison sentence suspended for 10 years to the 79 year old former female chief registrar of the court over cheating Rs.1.9 million received by the court through bails and fines.
The accused Chief Registrar had been ordered to pay a fine of Rs.13,500 and Rs.1 million as compansation to the court by High Court judge vikum kaluarachchi.
The accused had accepted that she was guilty over the charge of cheating the money received by the court on the period 1990-1993 .Earlier Attorney general filed charges on five persons including the female registrar over cheating money and later withdrawn charges against three persons.
After the lawyer appeared behalf of the accused former registrar shown that his client is sick and she already lost her pension due to the charges the court imposed a suspended prison sentence to her.ombo
