Agreement On Handing Over Hambanthota ,Magampura Harbour To A Chinese Company On Lease Had Been Signed

The agreement regarding handing over the
Hambanthota ,Magampura Harbour to the Chinese Company "China Merchant Ports Holding Private Company" was signed this morning (29) amidst protests of some trade unions run by opposition groups at the Ministry Of Ports and Shipping .

The agreement was signed after Cabinet approval.Secretary to the Ministry of Ports and Shipping L.P.Jayampathy and Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority Parakrama Dissanayake had been signed the agreement behalf of the Government and executive vice president of the China Merchant group Dr.Hu Jianghua had signed behalf of the Chinese government.

The signed agreement is due to be submitted to the Cabinet again it has been announced.

An Egyptian National Was Arrested While Transporting 66 Liquor Bottles/Cans Illegally

The special police task force personal have arrested an
Egyptian National transported 66 Liquor bottles and Cans in a motor car without a valid license at Pothuvil area.

The suspect who was arrested with 18 Liquor bottles and 48 Liquor Cans had handed over to the Pothuvil Police it has been reported.He is due to be  produced before the Pothuvil Magistrate Court on Monday.

A Person Was Arrested With More Than 30 Kilo Grammes Of Cannabis

Police have arrested a person with 30 Kilo Grammes
and 500 grammes of Cannabis in his possession in Havangiruwa area of Siyambalanduwa .

The estimated value of the stock of Cannabis is around Rs.3 million it has been revealed.


The arrested person is a resident of Kolonwinna ,Bohitiya area.

An E Health Card To Be Introduced To The Government Hospital Patients

An Electronic Health Card containing the data on
 health reports of a patient will be introduced to the Sri Lankan patients arriving Government Hospitals soon according to the Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

A pilot project implemented regarding the E-Health Card system proved as successful and this will be helpful to achieve the target of 01 doctor per 5000 population acccording to the Minister.

The E Health Card system will be implemented with collaboration of Information And Communication Technology Agency ( ICTA )Sri Lanka according to the Ministry of Health.
