Seven Persons Arrested Over Recovering A Haul Of Cocaine Inside A Sugar Container

Seven persons have been arrested over the importation of Cocaine illegally inside a Sugar Container to Sri Lanka from Brazil according to the Police Media Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekare.

Container Driver is among the seven suspects that have arrested regarding the incident he has stated.

The total weight of the haul of Cocaine recovered inside the Sugar Container yesterday (19) is 218 Kilo Grammes and 600 grammes and it worth around Rs.320 million the Police Media spokesman has raveled.

The haul of Cocaine has been recovered hidden inside a Sugar Container imported to Sri Lanka by the government owned CWE through a private company.

Hambanthota High Court Has Sentenced A Person 14 Year Rigorous Imprisonment Over Sexually Molesting A Boy

Hambanthota High Court Judge has today(20)sentenced a person 14 years of rigorous imprisonment over sexually molesting a 10 year old boy on 01st of February 2014 at Lunugamwehera area.

By announcing the Prison sentence the Hambanthota High Court judge Ajith M Gamasinghe has also ordered the 39 year old accused to pay a fine of Rs.5000 and a compensation of Rs.50,000 to the victimized boy .If the accused not been able to pay the fine he should have served an extra light six month imprisonment and not been able to pay the compensation an additional light 12 month imprisonment according to the judgement .
 

Kandy Teaching Hospital To Be Named As The Second National Hospital In Sri Lanka

Kandy Teaching Hospital will be named as the Sri Lanka's second National Hospital besides  Colombo National Hospital after the development work of the hospital concludes according to the Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne .

The naming of the Kandy Teaching Hospital as the second National Hospital will be done during  next year Minister has stated.

A Large Land Area in Nilgala Forest Had Been Destroyed Due To A Fire

A large land area more than 10 acres belonging to the Nilgala forest reserve in Madagama,Monaragala had been destroyed due to a sudden fire it has been reported.

The  fire is still spreading in the forest reserve and residents of the area have managed to control the fire sources have said.

Visiting Australian Foreign Minister Pledged To Spend Rs.118 Million To Introduce New Anti Dengue Bacteria To Sri Lanka

Visiting Australian Foreign Minister Julia Bishop has stated today(20) that the Australian government due to spend Rs.118 million to introduce the latest Dengue control method "Wolbachia" Australian Bacteria to Sri Lanka .

The Monash University in Australia in collaboration with the Ministry Of Health in Sri Lanka due to introduce the Bacteria as a Dengue control method here after successful trials ,Australian Foreign Minister has stressed during her meeting with President Maithripala Sirisena today(20)at President's House in Colombo .

The Bacteria which dismantle the Dengue Mosquito successfully tested in Australia and countries like Brazil,India,Vietnam ,Colombia,and Indonesia as well she has stated.

Australian Government is due to provide Rs.58 million through World Health Organization to Sri Lanka as an assistance to the Dengue Control Programmes conducted by the government Australian Minister has further stated.
