GMOA Has Suspended The Scheduled Island Wide Continuous Strike Over SAITM Issue

Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) has suspended the island wide Doctors Strike scheduled to be launched from tomorrow(05) for a week period after the discussions held with Minister Of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella and Asgiriya Thero over the SAITM Issue the Association has stated today(04).

According to the Secretary of the GMOA Dr.Haritha Aluthge the discussion held with Higher Education Minister Kiriella over the SAITM issue was fruitful and he has promised the Union that the President Maithripala Sirisena will issue a statement regarding the agreed factors on SAITM issue soon.

However if the authorities attempt to legalize SAITM at any instance ,Executive Committee of the GMOA has decided to launch an Island Wide Continuous Strike without a prior notice he has stressed.

Former Eastern Province Governor Austin Fernando Has Been Appointed As The New Presidential Secretary

The former Governor of the Eastern Province Austin Fernando has been appointed as the new Secretary to the President Maithripala Sirisena today(04).He was appointed due to the resignation of former Presidential Secretary P.B Abeykoon .Meanwhile the Foreign Minister of the previous government Rohitha Bogollagama has been appointed as the new Governor of Eastern Province .

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake Has Been Appointed As New Army Commander

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake has been appointed as the 22nd Commander of the Sri Lankan Army with effect from today(04) according to the President's Media Division.

The new Army Commander has been appointed after the previous Commander General Chrishantha De Silva had been promoted as the new Chief of Defense Staff.

The New Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake has joined the Sri Lanka Army in 1981 and served as Army Chief of Staff as well.

Meanwhile the former Additional Solicitor General Kapila Vaidyaratne has been appointed as the new Defense Secretary.
