Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake has been appointed as the 22nd Commander of the Sri Lankan Army with effect from today(04) according to the President's Media Division.
The new Army Commander has been appointed after the previous Commander General Chrishantha De Silva had been promoted as the new Chief of Defense Staff.
The New Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake has joined the Sri Lanka Army in 1981 and served as Army Chief of Staff as well.
Meanwhile the former Additional Solicitor General Kapila Vaidyaratne has been appointed as the new Defense Secretary.
