Ministry Of Fisheries Supplied 350 Boats And 100 Lifesaving Kits For Rescue Operations In Flood/Landslide Affected Areas
Ministry Of Fisheries has supplied 350 boats and 100 lifesaving kits to rescue those who are stranded in five districts affected with adverse weather conditions the Ministry has announced.
Accordingly these boats and lifesaving kits are being used to rescue people stranded due to floods and landslides in Galle,Matara,Tangalle,Kalutara and Gampaha Districts .

Several Low Land Areas In Few Distrcits Still Submerged
Although the water levels of overflowed rivers Kalu,Gin and Niwala receding at present several low land areas in Ratnapura,Galle and Matara are still under few feet of water according to the reports.
In Ratnapura ,Galle , Matara and Kalutara some areas submerged with 3 or 4 feet of water it has been revealed.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the people in adverse weather affected areas to be in vigilant as around 100 mili meter rain fall is possible in these areas during next 36 hours.
Many areas in the island including Colombo have received heavy showers time to time since this morning(02).

If Rain Continues Landslides Are Possible In Seven Districts -NBRO
The National Building Research Organization(NBRO) has today(02) announced that several areas in seven districts have been identified as risk areas of landslides if a rain fall continues in next 24 hours .
Accordingly rock falls, landslides and cut slope failures may have occur in the areas identified in Ratnapura,Galle,Matara,Hambanthota,Nuwara Eliya ,Kalutara and Kegalle districts if the rain fall continues.
NBRO has began inspecting around 1000 areas which are at risk of landslides it has been reported.
The death toll due to the adverse weather conditions still stands as 208 and 92 persons have been reported as missing up to now and more than 677,000 persons displaced or affected according to the Disaster Management Center.
Around 1735 houses have completely destroyed and 9432 houses have partially destroyed up to now due to the adverse weather the Center has stated.

Around 208 persons Have Died Due To The Bad Weathrr
Around 208 persons have died and 96 persons went
missing up to now due to adverse weather conditions affected in 15 districts according to the Disaster Management Center.
More than 629,000 persons have been displaced and affected due to the adverse weather.

Navy officers have today recovered a body of a child around five years old while floating in the Kalu river in elamodara in Galapatha,Kaluthara.
