The National Building Research Organization(NBRO) has today(02) announced that several areas in seven districts have been identified as risk areas of landslides if a rain fall continues in next 24 hours .
Accordingly rock falls, landslides and cut slope failures may have occur in the areas identified in Ratnapura,Galle,Matara,Hambanthota,Nuwara Eliya ,Kalutara and Kegalle districts if the rain fall continues.
NBRO has began inspecting around 1000 areas which are at risk of landslides it has been reported.
The death toll due to the adverse weather conditions still stands as 208 and 92 persons have been reported as missing up to now and more than 677,000 persons displaced or affected according to the Disaster Management Center.
Around 1735 houses have completely destroyed and 9432 houses have partially destroyed up to now due to the adverse weather the Center has stated.
