have arrested five persons over excavating a treasure in Dutuwewa area at galenbindunuwewa ,Anuradhapura.

The suspects had been identified as residents of dutuwewa,Hingurakgoda and Kegalle areas.

Several houses and crops in Hidowa and Thalawa

areas in Anuradhapura District had been destroyed due to strong winds assisted by heavy  showers experienced last night (06) in the areas according to the Disaster Management Center.

Several areas of the Anuradhapura district have experienced power failures last night until this morning (07) as the power lines supplying electricity  had damaged due to  fallen trees the Center has stated.

Anti Filaria Campaign has lodged a complaint at the

Criminal Investigations Department (CID)  yesterday (06)as per the instructions of Health Ministry   requesting an investigation on the false news spreading in social media these days by stating that an unidentified persons visiting houses are spreading HIV Infection on the pretext of taking blood samples  for tests.

As Sri Lanka received the world health organization's certification for  eliminating Filariasis from the country ,public health field officers attached to the Anti Filaria Campaign are  visiting houses in many areas during the nights to check the filaria status of the public and do not mislead due to false sratements spreading in social media the acting Director General Of Health Services Dr.Jayasundara Bandara has appealed from the public.

Therefore  support the field officers who are visiting houses to take blood samples to check on Filaria Dr.Bandara has urged the public.

A Watcher Attached To A Coconut Estate Was Killed Due To A Bull Atack

A watcher attached to a coconut estate in ilippawila

,Chilaw area was killed due to a bull attack last night (06).

The critically injured watcher who was reported as drunk at the time of the incident had succumbed to his injuries after admission to chilaw base hospital.

The deceased was attacked by a bull when he tried to tether the bull in the coconut estate it has been revealed.

The deceased had been identified as a resident of Hettipola area.
