Chairman Of The Ceylon Electricity Board Has Resigned From.His Post

The Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board
(CEB)Anura Wijepala has today (26) resigned from his post with immediate effect.

The reason behind his resignation not yet been revealed and he had tendered his resignation to the Minister Of Power And Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya it has been reported .

Minister Siyambalapitiya has accepted the Chairman's resignation and appointed W.B Ganegala as the acting Chairman of Ceylon Electricity Board .

A 34 Year Old Female Had Been Severely Injured Due To A Wild Boar Attack In Meegahakivula

A 34 year old Female had been critically injured and
hospitalized due to a wild boar attack nearby a road in Meegahakivula,Kotalawatte today (26).

The injured female is currently receiving treatment in Badulla General Hospital.

She was attacked by the wild boar while staying in a road nearby her house.


Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka To Assume Duties As Army Commander Or Defense Chief

A request made by President Maithripala Sirisena to
the Minister and former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka to resign from the Ministerial Post and assume the duties  of Army  Commander or chief of all Defense Forces in the country has been accepted by him it has been revealed.

 Cabinet Spokesman Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has today (26) stated during the Cabinet Briefing that Peesident made this request from Field Marshal Fonseka during the Cabinet Meeting held yesterday (25) in view of controlling the escalation of protest campaigns in the country and to make discipline among the community.


Responding to the request made by president ,Field Marshal Fonseka has stated that he will assume the duties as Army Commander or as Defense chief only if the post is given with full powers.

President Appointed A Retired High Court Judge To Probe On Meethotamulle Garbage Collapse

President Maithripala Sirisrna has today (26)
appointed a retired High Court Judge Chandradasa Nanayakkare to probe on Meethotamulle Garbage Dump Collapse occurred on 14th of April.

President  has earlier stated that he will appoint a retired judge to probe on the Meethotamulle incident and take a legal action against those who found responsible for  through the investigation.

Government Has Provided Another 65 New Houses For The Victims Of Meethotamulle Garbage Dump Collapse

Another 65 families lost their houses due to the
Meethotamulle Garbage Dump Collapse have received New houses
with Rs.250,000 in cash to purchase house hold equipment at a function held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena in Ministry Of Disaster Management yesterday (25).

Earlier 30 familes have received newly built houses from the Government with Rs,250,000 in cash.

Government had spent Rs.392 million to built 98 new houses provided for the Meethotamulle victims.

Altogether 98 houses had completely destroyed due to the Meethotamulle Garbage Dump Collapse on 14th of April.
