Wild Life Officers Rescued Four Elephants Fallen To A Cultivation Well

Wild Life Department officials have
today (17) rescued four wild elephants including a mother elephant .Two elephant calves and another elephant fallen to a cultivation well near the Vavuniya -Omanthe road(Northern Province).

After rescuing the Mother Elephant first   the wild life officials  had chased her  to the Jungle.But when the officials rescuing the other three elephants from the well the Mother Elephant arrived in the scene and attempted to attack wild life officers and the residents according to reports .

As a result Wild Life Officers shot and killed the mother elephant .

 were recovered today (17)

Umder the rubble in the disaster site.Around 140 houses located in Nagahamulla-Daham Road and  23 watte near the Meethotamulle Garbage Dump have been destroyed  due to the Garbage Dump collapse .

Meanwhile assessment of the damage occurred  due to the Garbage Dump collapse had commenced today.

Two Pillion Riders Were Killed Due To A Collision Of Two Motor Cycles

Two pillion riders  were killed after the Motor Cycles
they were travelling in colliding with each  other in Hindogama ,Nachchaduwa area on Shravasthip
ura road.

The deceased had been identified as residents of Nachchaduwa and Thurawila areas,

Two Youth Drowned While Bathing In Ma Oya

A 17 year old girl and a 15 year old boy of a same family had drowned in while bathing in Ma Oya yesterday (16) evening  according to the reports.

Image result for drownedThe deceased have faced this incident while bathing with a group of persons according to the Police.The bodies of them sent to the Marawila Hospital.

Thirty Persons Still Missing Due To The Garbage Dump Collapse -Government

Image result for kolonnawa cemeteryWhile the number of dead  persons due to the Meethotamulle Garbage Collapse remains as 27 around 30 persons reported as missing due to the incident according to the Government.

However people who lives near the Garbage Dump in Meethotamulle have stated that the number of missing persons who may have buried with their houses due to the collapse may be more than 100.

Three persons who got injured due to the incident is still receiving treatment in Colombo National Hospital and one person is in Intensive Care Unit according to the Hospital Director Dr.Anil Jasinghe.

Meanwhile the funerals of 14 who died due to the Garbage Dump collapse held this evening at Kolonnawa Cemetery with participation of large number of people.However the displaced Meethotamulle residents have not allowed any  politician to take part in the funerals or to visit the Garbage Dump it has been reported.
